Totally understandable

HAHA no, I wish. There were several examples of Atco slips in Google images. That one was recent and the picture was clear. There's no way I'm trapping 123 mph... not even close.

DocBeech 04-30-2011 07:43 PM

well it says suzuki so I figured it wasn't your 8 lol.

LOL, ya, noticed that, too. All of them say Suzuki for the left lane.

350z will beat it in a straight line but not on a race track.

I'd try again... the 350z has always been competitive against the RX-8 on tracks. Look up some of the official lap times for various tracks and you'll see that they're actually pretty similar. Even on the tight tracks with short straights. The 8 has the edge in handling and the Z has the edge in acceleration.. to say either one dominates the other on either of those aspects is an exaggeration.

Well obviously its going to be faster , it costs more , has more power .

Why dont we compare it to celica , mr2 etc?

And the 350z looks absolutely hideous without a bodykit

They were fairly similarly priced on MSRP when the rx-8 first came out. The Z was very slightly more expensive, but not by enough to consider it a different price range. The difference in price between the 8 and the cars you listed is actually much larger than the difference in price between the 8 and the Z.

I definitely agree that the 8 looks a lot better. There are many things that the 8 beats the 350z on for me, but I think those are a bit more subjective. I've always taken the stance that the choice between the 2 comes down to tastes and possible requirements you have for the car (such as the extra doors the 8 offers).

Roidz 05-01-2011 02:24 PM

Geez, what did I miss around here?

dynamho 05-02-2011 03:02 AM

Called BS on the first post.
Good one Brettus!

Rx8 AL 05-02-2011 03:18 AM

The 350z was between £26,240 - £30,240 & the rx8 is between £20,700 - £24,535 I am sure for the extra 5k -6k it costs to buy a 350 u could add a turbo/supercharger and it would be a lot faster than a 350 on a straight or round a corner. Think most people buy the rx8 for the looks and practicality and the rotory enigine which defines the car & makes it different to anything on the road today that's why I bought mine.

terch1 05-02-2011 07:36 AM

Wow come into work this morning, log in, and I'm being called out. What did I miss? As I stated early on in this post I have no reason to lie! Lucky for me I did not throw away the drag slip after posting the results last week. I admit there is a huge coincidence here. I think I'll be playing the lottery this afternoon. Hopefully this clears things up. Frankly I could care less whether you guys think I am bullshitting or not. Well here you go.

nycgps 05-02-2011 08:32 AM

damn lol !

terch is back and throw that "IN YOUR FACE" drag slip back at YaXMaNGTO

damn. rx8club.com, we love drama

yiksing 05-02-2011 08:52 AM

Too bad it still doesnt explain the 594ft time and a first time at drag strip beating a 6 speed G35 with intake and exhaust.

Yeah terch what's up with that? There is no 594ft time. You have to realize how amazing the time you ran is.

*getting popcorn*

*oooo this is gonna be good*

MS Addict 05-02-2011 11:33 AM

I didn't read everything, but who's to say the G35 even had that good of a driver? Maybe he didn't have the best of shifts on down the road? I'm just throwing it out there, I don't know jack about Infinity's at all, anyway.

But ultimately, I'm surprised at everything going on in here, haha.

Yup , the 8 is definately more practical

one word for you...BOSS

Roidz 05-02-2011 01:55 PM

Haha this is gettin good. That is a really good time if it's for real. Good for you terch.

Nadrealista 05-02-2011 02:30 PM

who said Rx8 is slow :-)

Feras 05-02-2011 02:42 PM

the only thing i have to ask after than time slip, you said he had you off the line but by the time you were at the top of first gear you were passing him. But on that slip you were behind him at 330 feet and passing him, and if your car is as fast as you say it is you'd be hitting more than 60 mph at 5.7ish seconds which would be approaching the top of second. explain the discrepancy?

also i found a timeslip for a turbo 8 that was as follows
60' 2.07
330' 5.83
1/8 8.86 @82.51
1000' 11.45
1/4 13.65 @ 103.54

only reason we're asking questions because it seems a little unreasonable that you can match a turbo 8s numbers down the line almost exactly. An NA and a turbo version of the same car should have different characteristics to the timeslips based on the larger differences in torque. But hey congrats if you really pulled this off, maybe your car is turbo'd without your knowledge.

This would be a higher probability than anything else he has said so far .....

Progress... but still have to question the 594 foot time.

I think terch is hiding the long form drag time certification.

I hope he comes clean. If he copied the info from the time slip the first time but then the copy of the time slip is missing the 594 ft times I am confused because in all my years of drag racing I only got one time slip at the end of the track.

terch1 05-02-2011 06:29 PM

As everyone can see I posted a legit slip. Here is what happened. When I was first asked for my times I didn't have the slip. Me and my buddy went out after the track for some grub and a couple beers and I left my slips in his car. My friend as I mentioned in my initial post is a track junkie and been going to this track for almost 20 years. His friend, who works in the booth, had given him some sort of spreadsheet that had alot more information on it for the runs we both made that night. I believe he had 3 runs and I had 2. When I was asked to post the times I called him and asked for some times to post. The initial times I posted came directly from him.

I met up with my friend to get my slips this weekend and when I got in this morning I saw that I was being called out and posted the slip. I didn't realize that it had different times on it. Like I said earlier on this was my first time at a track and I am basically a newbie with this shit...... so excuse me for being an idiot. I really don't know what else to tell you all. I thought posting my slip would show everyone what time I ran. I'm sorry I didn't explain earlier but I am trying to finish two papers for school. So you can choose to believe me or not.....honestly I really don't care. But this is my story and I'm sticking to it.

SleepeR1st 05-02-2011 06:44 PM

Do it again, and get it on video. This will really shut us up. I will paypal you the $20 to run if you deliver.

terch1 05-02-2011 06:51 PM

I will run again if thats what it takes. Just give me a couple weeks I'm currently working on midterms for 2 classes. This masters program is no joke! And I don't need $20 but thanks.
