 Mods are never done.

What model do you have? I imagine the magazine tests were done on a GT. The base is 160lbs lighter. I'm not that knowledgable about drag race math, but maybe that gives a teenth or two?

I think 'fast' is all relative. After driving my truck for the winter the 8 feels fast, but then when I drive my Cts-V it's slow. But the 8 can feel fast depending on how/where it's driven.

@Terch - drag was done at Englishtown, Raceway?

I got my rx8 for the handling not stright line speed!( and now going through tunnels ) and because it looks stunning.
If wanted a straight line car I would buy a mustang for the noise and the straight line power. But the again if I was to buy a mustang it would be a 1967 Fastback which I would never take to the drag strip! |
wait tell me exactly what i have to buy to run a 13.7 in my 8. Without destroying my clutch/tranny. And I'm sure this drops the mileage from horrible to don't ask.
Fuck it, I'm sure I'm already running a 13.7 in zero degree air.. |

I'm in mount royal. Don't see too many 8s round here, but I did see two this week and got snubbed by both of them. Nice.

terch1, is your track at sea level? That is a damn good time for the little modifications you have done. You should be proud of yourself.
Over here in New Hampshire we have the Epping Speedway, which i am pretty sure is below sea level. Lots of stock production car times have been bested here, and modified records have been made here. Never been to a dragstrip but I've been contemplating going. I really want to shut my friends stock MS6 down, and my buddies boosted miata. I've pulled on the MS6 on a high speed "track" run and the miata pulled on the MS6 slightly. Now i just need the guts to go embarass myself on a couple runs before i feel that stock time or better pulling in. Eventually when an AP and MM tune comes along my path i will be aiming for records. |

You can see my full list of mods in my vBGarage. I would not recommend this setup for a daily driver. I get under 200 miles to a full tank of gas. I drove from my house to Wilmington DE a couple days ago. (96 miles) and burnt a half tank of gas on what was for the most part highway travel.
try it in NYC ! |

Custom K&N Typhoon intake GReddy SE Exhaust RX7store High-flow cat Sohn omp adapter Agency Power Underdriven Crank Pulley Not sure why that would give you such poor fuel economy. I've got an intake, mazdaspeed exhaust, catless, sohn and the AP pulley as well. MM tune as well and can regularly see 20 mpg from highway driving. Seldom does it drop lower than 17 and that's with me really thrashing it. |

^^Nice find.
What are the odds of having a rx-8 and a 87 turbo2 doing the exact same figures in every section of the drag slip? |

I am 90% sure I left the timeslip on the kitchen counter when I got home last night. I will see if I can bring it to work tomorrow and scan it in. Worst case I'll list the stats from the slip.
If it weren't for the fact that you have been on this forum for a while I'd hoist the BS flag quicker than a rat up a drainpipe . |
