is the 8 a good daily driver?

how many of you guys would think that the 8 is a good daily driver? because my mom/uncle went to look for cars and they came across a MY2004 VR rx8(6MT). it has a mazdaspeed bodykit. its $16k w/24k. its from a small dealership. so i would like to know if i should bring it to a mazda dealer and have them check it out too?my mom really likes it. i was in the market for a MSM miata or a s2000. but i think this is a steal!!! anyways, this will be my daily driver. i have done some research about the 2004 models having more problems but not so sure. can someone clarify me that? and i have read about engine flood, bad mpg, inaccurate HP ratings, transmission and engine issues? anything else i should worry about. i really admire the 8 and it will seperate me from all the others.

any tips and suggestions would be nice too. thanks everyone.

it is a phenomenal daily driver if the gas mileage doesn't bother you.

Depends on what he's looking for...

S2000
-Faster
-Smaller (2 seater)
-Convertible

I'd say no because his diction sounds like that of a highschool student, and I'm sure at some point he'll need to bring two people with him somewhere.

RX-8
-4 seater
-Rotary Music <3
-Looks better IMO

I'd pick the 8 because the 4 seats WILL come in handy (if latter assumption is correct) and the women will be all over him like women on an RX-8.......wait......ya

AND with that steal of a deal he's found, why wouldn't he snag the 8?

Good Luck!

It already has the mazdaspeed body kit.
$16,000&24,000 miles?
Where is this dealer located. I want it.
Just make sure all of the recalls were done.
Some recommend getting a compression test before buying.

&if gas mileage doesn't bother you, then go for it.
Look into the car more. Same with the others [S2k, MSM].
Narrow down your decision.

But heck, what do i know. I'm only 15 and I don't even own an rx8.[yet]

UH-OH, I put my age.

Yes, it's a good daily driver.

It burns fuel like a private jet, but hey, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

That's right where I am: 220-230 miles a week, $40.

He's got $40, so the decision will be based entirely on how many miles he drives each week.

It's nice when these choices come down to strictly a mathematical break point.

same here, but im not limited to 40 bucks a week. If you want it, go make sure all the recalls are done, you definitly want to get it compression tested, and make sure everything is good, maybe a carfax report. good luck, if all goes well with that, BUY IT!

I don't have a problem with the fuel consumption. typically it /will/ be thirstier than a standard econobox, but this car is anything but. it's a fantastic daily in my humble, insane opinion.

its a good deal, but no offense I don't know ifthis car sounds right for you. It sounds like u like it because it looks cool which it does, but this car is very different and u really have to appreciate it. It takes a certain enthusiast that enjoys topping off oil every 1500miles to love the rx8 and Someone who doesn't care about17 mpg. I think u should reevaluate what u want from a car before buying an rx8

my 8 is my daily driver 7 days a week. I've put 35k on it in under a year . Mine has been problematic but not all rx8s are that way. Personally, I'm looking for a beater as my daily driver so I can put my baby in my garage!

My 8 is my daily driver 7 days a week, 4 seasons a year in MD.
I don't drive much so the gazs mileage is negligable, it doesn't snow enough, so that is negligible, and I can drive in the rain. I gotta say, I forgot how hard these stock tires get when cold. Last night it was barely over freezing and I got the occasional breaking of traction FAR lower speeds then previous.

I think it's a great daily car, it has 4 seats, enough trunk space and it is comfortable for even long commutes. It's not the best in stop and go traffic, but what manual is.

If your parents are buying you an RX8 it sounds like they'e push-overs. Get the car and then make then raise your allowence.
