Thumbs up 6 month ownership report

Hello everyone around the globe. Tomorrow is my baby’s 6 month birthday of ownership and with this opportunity I would like to write a small report. As most of you know I bought a 2003 production JDM spec 6-speed with 23,000 km on the clock.

Well after 6 month of ownership and about 5,000 km I have the following to report:

Mods:
-Stainless steal strakes (they look fantastic and add a touch of class to the car)
-15 LED stop lights from Autolumination
-Anti theft alarm with a 2km paging range
-DVD player (I removed the Japanese satnav which was useless in here and in its place I installed a DVD player with an RGB conversion unit to watch movies on the factory satnav monitor)
-New tires (got rid of the Potenzas which were a little too harsh and noisy for our roads here and put wider 245/40 R18 Nexen 3000 which are extremely quite and a little softer.

Consumption:
10.7-16.5 l/100km (16-26mpg) Yes I get 26mpg on the high way at a steady 70 mph!

Minor problems:
-Rough idle (As you might remember I posted a thread about the rough idle. At the beginning Mazda told me that that was normal for this car. I was very disappointed if this was a normality for such a smooth car. After reading and searching the forum and replaced the spark plugs and cleaned the MAF sensor and it worked! Much smoother at idle with a very slight vibration

-Squeaky brakes (not fixed yet)
-Small rattles on the doors when I go over rough patches

That’s it! Apart from the above minor problems, this car has been fantastic! I love it more and more as each ride goes by. I would recommend it to anyone who has a passion about driving and likes to take care of their car. If you keep in mind the couple of unique features of the car (namely turning it off cold and the oil consumption), it will give you many hours of pleasure and a fantastic driving experience! Anyway most of you who own it already know this

To anyone who it thinking about buying this car whether it’s new of used, I say go for it! I’m glad I did.

Here she is in all her glory!
