Post 5k on my stock rx8

So today i got 5k to spend on my 2005 Rx8 manual

I really know nothing about cars but my friend and his dad will help me install everything cause they know everything.. I made this post before talking to them to get an idea of what people who already have rx8's put into their car and liked or disliked.. I really want to turbo it but besides that any thing else that would make me love my car more than i already do? right now all i have are rims n tint =D

Let me know whats needed and not and what u love about your mods!!

couldn't agree more!

Welcome to the club! I think the first thing you should do is become familiar with the car you're driving. I know this sounds tedious but if you haven't do so already, you absolutely need to sit down and read your owner's manual from cover to cover. You'll learn a TON of things about this car; oil consumption, regular maintenance schedule, how to tow it, which wheels to put the spare tire on and which ones not to, etc etc.

After you've done that, I think YOU'LL better know what mods to consider and then the search begins. There's a ton of 'sticky' threads to read here, lots of great product reviews, and even DIY's (do it yourself)

if you dont have someone doing the work for free, how much is an install of the MM turbo setup? approximately? At least 1k I would guess, right?

i don't quite understand, i shift pretty damn fast already without SS with the style that i am shifting at.. don't know if i'd need it.
1st gear - attack from 5 oclock, push
2nd gear, pull from 2 oclock
3rd, push straight fowrad
4th, pull straight back
5th push from 7oclock
6th, push/pull from 11 oclock..

i wish i could drive someone's SS to see if it's worth it for me =/

I would advise against going turbo at this point. You said it yourself: you dont' know much about the car and if you encounter issues witht he turbo (as all people do eventually) then what are you going to do?

I also advise people not to go turbo if they don't have enough money set aside for a new engine should that happen...

I couldn't agree more. Get all the bolt-on tidbits first as you learn about the car before jumping in to that deep end.

hmmm, then ya, i guess for 5k u shoudn't do turbo =/

front and back sways, tower strut, coil/sprint+strut and a catback/echaust+resonate pipe would do the trick.

or just go cosmetic modding.

find a used greddy kit for $2 grand. this will give you 240-250whp. which is roughly 300hp at the flywheel.

use the rest for lightweight rims, i recommend enkei rpf1
mazsport ignition
lightweight flywheel
boost controller
professional tuning
lowering springs, for example the mazdaspeed springs (or a full coilover set)
mazdaspeed front strut bar
upgraded sways

or use the remaining $3k to get a full mazdaspeed body kit.

Performance driving classes.

Throw the rest of the money in savings until your driving abilities surpass that of your car.
