47k miles, maintnace
I'm the second owner. I bought it with 41k miles.
Last owner didnt do much except changing oil at mazda dealer.
Interior has thousands of scratches and engine looks like sand box.
Next week I'm changing rear break pads so I can do some general stuff too.
I was thinking about using seafoam.
Should I leave it inside engine for a night or just couple of hours?
How to pour it in?
I read about using vacuum line but I'm not sure with one is that (is is the one I have to plug when installing AEM CAI?)
Or pour it in through spark plugs? (I'm noob so some pics would be nice if this way)
How long it smokes? I live close to center of the city so I don't want frefighters to vsit me)
Should I get new spark plugs?
Is there sth else that should be cleaned?
I want to keep that car going over 100k so any tips would be great
I don't premix (at least not yet)

You can use Seafoam, or use Mazda's Zoom Power Engine Cleaner.
Dunno how much Seafoam cost but I got a bottle of the Mazda's for 20 bux.
no its not the vacuum line u talk about, look at the left side of the housing u should see some nipples thats plugged. Look at the Engine Lack of Power TSB.
If the plugs have never been changed, yes its a good thing to change it all now. Not like its expensive, 20 bux a pop.
u can leave Seaform or Mazda zoom power in there overnight, read the TSB I mention above for more info.
if u want to keep it longer, u better premix.

I got 2 cans of seafoam deep creep.
I'm going to do it according to TSB and i have one question
where is that connector from step 4, its not on picture?
- 4. Disconnect the secondary air injection pump connector B1-04.
and step 6
- . Wait a minimum of 30 seconds and repeat STEP 6 for the same port.
Do they mean connect again and crank for 10sec while spraying?
I didn't look under the hood yet but the rear nipple is shown on step 5 or its actually in the rear? :P
I know it maybe dumb but i don't want to end up spraying that stuff in wrong hole

Yes and go with a synthetic like Red Line or Royal Purple. You will notice the difference when shifting gears.
Well, don't wait too long 'cause a remanufactured engine installed can run you several thousand dollars, like $4K and up, depending on who does the work. Spend a little time now and possibly save some big bucks later.
oh I have warranty -nice
but still I don't want to waste half day for that compression test.
Its not drive through like mc donald.

exactly as Go48 said - there's no reason to be cheap now when it could uncover a bigger more expensive problem. new engines are going to cost a pretty penny and take much longer than half a day. as for the tranny and diff fluid, i changed to royal purple since it's not that much more than others.

Since it is an '04, you should probably replace the coolant too, and the brakes should be fully bled when you replace the pads, although I am sure you were going to do that anyway .
Check on the official Mazda web-site by VIN under the Owner's section and make sure that all of the recalls were done. There are several that should have been addressed on your car. If you can't find it on the web-site then call Mazda customer service and give them your VIN.
Definitely do the tranny and diff fluid as they are both significantly overdue. (I say this because that was about how far I ahd gone when I did it, and it was definitely longer than it should have been. I used Royal Purple which worked great beyond an initial smelly period of about three or four months after replacement.)

Congrats on the new to you 8! Mine has 66k miles, and I still love it.

Damn lot of things need to be done
In my old mercury cougar i was only changing oil ever 5k and i made 100k.
I never visited mechanic lol.
OK so that compression test i should do after playing with seafoam right?
And warranty covers tests? O_O
Tranny and diff fluid can i change by myself or need dealer (if i can do it within one day on parking lot i'm good)?
Coolant too i assume.
All recalls are done, last month i got new steering rack so they checked. I did anyway on mazda website and all looks good.
What does "fully bled" mean? Pads are not enough?
Now i know why they say this car is high maintenance.
Good thing that i actually like to spend weekends under the car lol
Save gas and its fun
Btw nobody knows where is that secondary air injection pump connector B1-04?
Thanks for tips guys

Fully Bled means to bleed the brake fluid out of the system and put in new fluid. It's part of a standard brake job. The reason that you do this is that the fluid is hydroscopic, which means that it absorbs water as time goes by. You want to get that water out of the system to keep the caliper pistons from corroding and also to keep the brakes working well.
Have you checked out the DIY page in the Tech forum of the club? It should have procedures for everything that you want to do, and yes, the tranny and diff fluid should be user serviceable with hand tools.
I don't consider this stuff high maintenance, and it isn't that onerous had it all been done schedule. Since the former owner didn't get the services done according to the schedule, you are a bit backlogged. The only thing that is more necessary in this car than in others is that if you don't change the tranny fluid on time, you will feel it in the shifter. When I changed mine at 50K It was bright and silvery with ground up metal. Never a good sign in a gear lubricant. Everything still shifts fine, but it shifts way better with Royal Purple than it ever did before and right before the change it was sticking into gear and having trouble going into gear.
On that Mazda site, and in your owner's manual, there is a service schedule that shows everything that needs to be done and when. Follow it, and you will have your 8 for a very long time. All the best.
