3D CAD RX-8 models?
So I was thinking it would be cool to run some CFD on my car. The problem is I don't have a model of it. I'm not quite skilled enough to pump out a UG (or CATIA/PE) model in a reasonable amount of time. This may be a long shot, but does anyone know a source for a CAD model? lol Mazda probably won't give it out, but I figured there are a lot of car enthusiasts out there. There's gotta be some CAD guru that makes this stuff for enthusiasts.

I'm not gonna lie, theres a very low chance anyone has made anything in 3d for the Rx-8, except for Mazda. I'm doing some basic animation for a presentation to Honda this month, nothine special really, of all the components that our cutting tools machine on the Corvette V8, the Civic/Accord I4, and some turbine rings. I think I have 200 hours in the V8 alone, with animations. There are thousands of little things that are required to be drawn to make a car.
Sounds like a good chance to become more familiar with the software, It will be a pain in the butt to draw, and I'm not a fan of anything other than Inventor (Its soooo easy to use), but at least you will have the chance to get better at the software, even use it in your portfolio, if and when a job chance is required.

there have been several threads about this with several examples over the years. at least one member is a game designer and modeled the rx-8 for a game...
look down at the bottom of this page for similar threads

obviously you know what your talking about...i'm a first year in a cad program at my college (not my thing tho, transferring). but in one of my classes i had to use google sketchup. its a free program. either way they have rx8 models. you just have to search in the 3D warehouse. the file would probably transfer to whatever program you are using.
