OH 2011 Questions

I have done all my research and want to buy a 2011 RX 8. Why can't I find any pics of it, although I know Mazda says no changes from the 2010. The dealer says I can't order yet. Anyway, when will the 2011 actually be on the lot..and when can I order? Both dealers near me can't give me an answer ...WTH?. I would have bought a 2010 but none in Red were left. I am guessing about a 90 day delivery time?? I guess I won't be driving mine until Spring 2011.

Geez, do some searching and find a used '09 for dirt cheap. It's nowhere near worth it to buy an 8 new anymore. If I was Mazda I'd just shut the 8 down now. Not even worth it to go another year.

If he can get $7000 off of MSRP on a new 2011, then it might be worth it.

They aren't going to change anything for 2011 according to my local dealer. Even the color choices aren't going to be any different, so you might as well just buy a 2010 for a lil off MSRP. Though the 2010's are the same as 2009's, and they're even cheaper. I got mine basically new for 6K less than a new one.

If you look around, you can find a red one. I'm surprised your dealer didn't offer to search other Mazda dealers for one. Mine did, back when I was shopping for a MS3.

Just get a 2010 they're all the same and the car's resale is dogshit anyway. I went for black just so the hideous plastic mustache and intakes for '09 would blend in better.

Wait until the 2011 comes out and troll for a new 2010 which will have a massive rebates. They just sold an 09 at a local dealer here for $8000 below MSRP. Yes 24,XXX for a NEW 2009 MT Grand Touring 8.

Be smart.

Well to actually answer your question......... they should be getting to the dealer lots this fall at the latest..... if your local dealer didn't give up on the car. My local mazda dealer said they stopped selling new ones last year because the market was so small. They only sold 2-3 a year so they decided it wasnt worth it i guess.

If I were you tho I would do what the other people suggested and buy an 09 or 10 with 5-10k miles instead. It is basically a new rx8 and you save 10k.

I took your advice and am picking up a 2010 red RX8 (got a good deal) in about two days. I have read all the FAQ's and stickys but have not found the answer to one question. I know it's not ideal to let it sit when I am away, but I'm not real comfortable with anyone nearby that I know starting it up and driving it while I'm gone due to them being stupid and causing a flooding issue. My question is, how long can it sit before starting is an issue? I am leaving for a week vacation in about month-right when it should start getting cold around here. I could ask my brother but I might come back to find my RX in a junk yard and him in jail.

if it just sits there will be no problem. just disconnect the battery.
flooding is when you start the car, then shut it off right after without warming up.

Ok, why not tell us your deal? Break it all down here. I'm sure people would appreciate that.

OK if you really want to know about the deal it is for around 4000 off sticker so I got a GT for around 29,000. It may not be the best deal but I really wanted this car and have been saving for a while to be able to put 4000 down on it. I also got a interest rate on the loan for right at 3% from shopping around which brings my payments to under 500 a month which is where I needed to be to afford this car. In addition since it is a second vehicle that I dont use for work (have company car that I don't have to pay gas insurance or any maintenence on) the insurance is less than 70 a month for pleasure vehicle with a good driving record. I really wanted the 2011 but this 2010 is a better deal for me. Maybe not the best deal, but good enough for me to be able to get this car. I am kinda freakin out reading about the little things you need to do, but I am getting great advice here from the Stickys and reading the posts. I am a girl not used to even changing my own oil, but I am feeling better about all this now, am actually learning a lot about rotary engines work. I never really gave a crap about how of my other cars worked-this is different. Thanks for eveyone's advice-scared of getting flamed here.

If the car will only sit for a week, there won't be any problem with starting.
I just had my car sit for four weeks and it started up right away just like if it would have been driven every day. No need to disconnect the battery or for any other precaution.

I left mine sitting for 6 weeks with the battery disconnected and it started right up no problems. Also had Stabil in the fuel tank but that was probably unecessary.

kind of the same for me. Mine sat for about 7-8 months with zero anything. (it was at my brothers house and he didnt want me to start it bc the entire house would reek of gas from my midpipe) and my trans was blown so it wasnt going outside to start lol.

First time starting it was a bitch, not going to lie, It was acting flooded. However it had an 1/8 tank of 8 month old gas in it.

It did start eventually however

before storing, fill up the tank and pour a bottle of seafoam. that should keep the gas fresh.

Picking it up today, yep getting the wimpy automatic. For a girl who never knew how piston engine worked (or cared) this car and the engine fascinates me!! Maybe at some point I'll grow some lluevos and get a manuel. Still learning all I can about the rotary. I already picked up on something-pistons suck.

Not all pistons

I enjoy having pistons at the 4 corners helping me brake. I would scream in terror if I only had drums.
