What does your parking brake handle look like..?
I was reading my spec sheet comparing it to the GT and it appears we are to have a 'leather wrapped parking brake handle with colour keyed stitching'..

Mine is not so. Its black and any 'stitches' it appears to have are black as well. I doubt it would be sand like the seats but its not leather. If it is.. I'd hate to see the cow it came from

I'm curious... was it forgotten, or does no one have this?

I just picked up my 06 Shinka, it has a leather wrapped parking brake, but the stiching is black as well.

 

Yeah mine is black leather-wrapped with black stitching. What does "colour keyed stitching" mean anyway?

 

Everything else in the car that claimed to have colour keyed stitching, the thread is copper red (or pretty close) like in the seats.
I had another look at the brake handle, okay maybe it could be leather but its very very hard, even the edges are sharp..

Hmm.. so thats three of us now..

 

In this case I think color-keyed means black thread with black leather...at least thats what my shinka and a few of the others I have seen have.

 

What about your seats? Do they have red stitching? I've read that they are supposed to do so, and seem some promo pics of them.. But I haven't seen a picture of an actual car on the road that shows it clearly.

 

Yeah...sort of a rust-red-copper colored thread. I saw a nice tan suede boot with red stitching the other day that would make a nice nice match for the interior stitching.

 

In that case I don't understand why they didn't continue the red stitching theme with the steering wheel and e-brake etc... I think they had it on the 2005 Shinkas?

Also, do you guys have the little rear lip spoiler that's on this "Sport Prestige Limited II" edition? (Presumably, the JDM equivalent...)

 

I have an 06 GT Shinka and all threads are copper, including the brake lever.

 

Yes I do have it, but it didnt come with it.

I was told all the SE/Shinka stuff was added at the dealer, and the car came with just the seats..

Wonder if this was something they missed perhaps?

I have the other spoiler with the actual gap underneath. Hey - did you guys get some kind of Shinka floormats? I got the regulars.

 

How about the wheels? Promo says special wheels, mine look just like the all other 8s.

I think the Shinka wheels are regular ones with some kind of "powder" coat to them. I dunno, someone had told me that somewhere.

 

I was thinking this too.. but I have my winters on now so I cant go over to the dealer and pull up beside another to check but I will!

There was a pic on here somewhere with a Shinka and a VR beside each other, and you can see a difference.. brighter, shinier.. I cleaned my rims the other day in the driveway, and checked the picture.. appear to be like the ones on the Shinka.

 

Mine have the rotary crest in white/grey thread with RX-8 in red thread in the middle. I saw a velocity red and the mats in it had RX-8 embroidered in white on the sides of them.

 

I have the ones with the white RX-8 on the sides. Big deal!

 

Same here as others, brake lever has black leather with black stitching and a white RX8 on the floor mats.

The difference in the wheels is subtle, it looks like a smoked chrome versus silver

 

my shinka has speacial brake handle, seats with the red trim, special ground effects, spoiler, rear spoiler as well as high gloss wheels, sat radio, floor mats, wheel locks and a few more items,,,,,

 

My shinka has black leather wrapped E-brake + black stitching. The normal RX8 Ebrake is not leather wrapped.

the shinka "special" rims is just dark polished OEM rims, exactly same design.

There is no lip spoiler for the 2006 "shinka". it was only for 2005 Black Cherry Shinka

you get a set of special floormat for the 2006 "Shinka" that says rx8 in red on the side.

Other 2006 Shinka feature:
Alcantara Seats with red stitching
Leather Bin cover front + black ( vs plastic in normal RX8)
special glossy trim around the rotary crest on the seats, the gauges and the air vents.
Piano Black panel on steering wheel ( vs plastic for normal RX8) and piano black panel on the center... beam.. ( vs silver in normal RX8)
upgraded suspension, side strakes, front/rear rotary crest..
