Question 2005 RX-8 improvements? bug fixes? will there be any?

2005 RX-8 improvements? bug fixes? will there be any?
I am thinking of waiting to buy my RX-8 if there will be enough to warrant the wait. I have not been able to find one shred of info on when they will be on the showroom floor, or what if any improvements will be in the 2005 year model. I even called the Mazda USA headquarters in southern California, I was put on hold on my dime for 15 minutes (no 800 number, cheapskates!) then some numnut comes on and knows nothing...I just said thanks and goodbye.

Anybody heard anything????

I decided it wasn't worth waiting 6 months for it. I don't really regret it, but white wouldn't have been a color I wanted.

Mazda isn't going to tell you anything. They wouldn't want to tell you something that might make you wait for a 2005 when their dealers still have '04 models to sell through.

If it were me, I wouldn't wait. I doubt that there are going to be any significant changes for several years.

The 2005 RX-8 will be available in white. Yellow will be discontinued. It was be making 247 horsepower (at the wheels, no less) and will get close to 30mpg. Wheel-hop will be non-existant, and the flooding issue will fixed.

The 2005 Mazdaspeed will use a 3-rotor, turbocharged version of the renesis. Abel Ibarra said during testing he was running mid 7's in the quarter with an intake, exhaust, and ground strap. California models may be detuned slightly.

Still not good enough. These changes don't make me excited.

I know. Hence me asking.
Imagine : Dual quad rotor engines (one for the front wheels and one for the rear wheels), Quad turbo charger (2 for each engine), some big *** blow-off valve, and 1mpg fuel effeciency.

It would be nice to have electric windows for the back seats.

I have kids and it's hard for them to open the windows.

My 2 cents./

Mazda DOES have a 1-800 Customer Service number - 1-800-222-5500. It's the very first phone number listed under the Talk to Us page of the Mazda USA web site. How hard was that? It was probably MORE work for you to find their direct number! :D

Gordon

Is this for real, or just a cruel joke?

Well, aside from not looking too hard for their toll-free number (as I pointed out above), you must not have looked too hard for any shreds of info - as has been pointed out by others, there are quite a few earlier threads discussing possible changes for the 2005 model year. Aside from possibly adding yellow and dropping white to the colour palette, there are NO significant changes at all (as far as anyone here knows).

Because there's a bunch of prior threads that you've not bothered to read, the other posters in this thread are yanking your chain - joking.

Regards,
Gordon

Other way around... Dropping yellow and adding white.

Wink Re: Re: 2005 RX-8 improvements? bug fixes? will there be any?

Gordon,

Thank you for giving it to me straight. I am new to this sort of web dialogue and this site is somewhat complex in my opinion. I kinda figured some of the replies were put-ons. The color thing is no issue because I've decided on silver with the red/black interior. Iam sorry to have made a thread on this issue when there were others addressing the same question, with so many I just did not bother to look too hard. Your last reply has pushed me over the decision edge, I will be going to order my RX-8 this Sunday. Thanks again Gordon....Thom

You can't go wrong. If you really dont mind some of the issues (MPG,HP,A/C,Tranny noise) you will Love this car. I have loved mine in spite of the problems.
