2005 Rx-8

Does anyone know when the 2005 RX-8 comes out. I'm looking to make a deal on an '04 when the '05's come out, but if its a long time I'll just go for the purchase now. Thanks

I asked my dealer (who was a straight-shooter), and he said they are ordering them now, so they won't start arriving until November. I got my RX-8 last week.

Thanks for the reply. I really do not want to wait until Nvember so I'll head to my dealer, thanks.

There are no significant changes for 2005, so there's no reason to wait for them. Pick up a 2004, you'll love it!

That was my logic... the 2005 is the same car, no significant changes. There was a price increase mid year, so even late 2004 models are $150 more. The 2005 will be more expensive, as each model year is (in any car). So I figured that I might as well grab one now while availability is still good and I can get exactly what I want. All said and done, if I had waited for a 2005, maybe it would be about $500 more. The dealers in my area are willing to part with the car at nice prices, so the present time seemed like the best option for me.

you will probabaly get a better deal getting an '04 then buying a new '05 that is just the same. the dealership near me said the really wasnt any significant difference between the two

won't their be some minor tweaks to the 8? Or are they going to ignore everyone on this forum and all of the minor complaints?

ignore mostly only because the mazdaspeed version of the rx-8 will be coming to the states soon with new suspension and exhaust and bodykits and maybe a supercharger. or so the dealership says.

They have been making changes to the RX-8 during the 2004 year. The first few cars were not built like the cars that you now see on the lots. Because of this, the 2005 cars aren't going to be needing much changes either since fixes were already implemented.

Just check the build date on your cars, there may be some earlier build cars on the lots out there. I recommend looking for Jan or newer if possible.

I got an email from Thousand Oaks Mazda saying they were selling their remaining inventory of 04's for $500-$750 below invoice so I would assume they are expecting the 05's to arrive sooner rather than later. I really don't think the MS version will be out soon. They might have the suspension & brakes (pads) out so far, but I have not even heard of any type of FI they are working on. You here the MS version will have 255 hp, to an SC, to an electroniclly assisted turbo. I am sure after the RX7 issues they would want a FI RX8 to be relitively bullet proof and reliable before introducing it.

I'd have to guess that the 05 model will come out later, because there are still so many unsold 04 models. The 500-750 below invoice sounds about right, and I would not be surprised if they have an rx8 blowout sale soon, because they cannot put the 05 model out in the near future if they wanted to. If it's gonna be basically the same hting as the 04 model, with the glitches fixed, and a couple little extras, there's no rush for them to release it, and they won't until most or all of the 04 models are gone.

Why would they tell you there are significant changes if they want to sell the 2004's?

Telling one person about changes scheduled for 2005 is not going to stall sales of 2004 models. It might disuade the information hungry, rotary nut, but not the average buyer.

Why would you buy a '04 in july / august, if there are going to be major changes... And you can wait 2 months to get them?

There are NO major changes for the 2005 model year, except for white replacing yellow as an exterior color.

How can anyone definitively say that there are NO major changes for the next model year? Most likely there will not be but nobody knows for sure.
