I like white on a sports car.
On our parking lot there's a (usually clean) pearl white Mitsu 3000 GT and I think it looks fantastic.
Stands out beautifully from the hundreds of silver and titanium vehicles on the lot. Porsches look great in pearl white too.
If I could, I'd take that over my black one.

But I agree that the stratos blue would have been great. I'd wait for an 05 for sure to get one of those. Since not I'll be getting a Ti:Gray version which is the color I've wanted for a car for a long time. I'd just fit in better with the stratos blue with the rest of my family as everyone has dark blue cars.

I could be wrong though.

Depends if you're talking about paint or light.
In light, white is the reflection of all colors, while black is the reflection of none. That is why anything black (black hair, black clothes) is hotter, cuz the color black absorbs the light ... while white reflects it off (and hence you see the color white, because ALL of the light is bouncing off)
In paints or other practical applications however, it is the other way around. Technically, mixing all colors gives a very very dark brown, but it is close enough to black, whereas white is associated as the "clean & pure" color. ^^
I might have to just wait for 2006 for the Blue Mica rx8 >:| Since my 2nd fave color is Titanium and everybody seems to have that.

Clearly White is awesome. It is the best looking colour by far at night. If any of you have seen a $$ car in white, it is impressive to say the least. Their is a white Murcielage running around near Toronto, it looks amazing.
Shelleys royal purple would be my second choice, looks great.

Old English White Jaguar XK150
White 'works' with certain body styles and lines..my high school best buddy's parents had 2 matching 150's in white..elegant but the 150 XK Jaguar could have been s...t brindle brown and looked outstanding..hope the RX-8 white is a winner for those who have been waiting

White deemphasizes the lines of the car, within the boundaries of the car. It makes the sheet metal creases 'go away." For example, the rotary crest on the top of the hood will not be as noticible in white as a metallic color, especially silver. That is why sports cars often look better in silver, and not in white. It emphasizes the curves and creases in the sheet metal that are often the drama of the car's styling. In contrast, white looks good on a luxury car, where making these creases disappear (appear soft and flowing) is the key. If you want to emphasize the lines of the car, don't get white. Get silver, or another dramatic metallic. Start looking at cars with this in mind, you'll see what I mean. You can start to see what does and does not stand out on a car with different colors, and how this changes with distance.

Last year in Japan it was called Pearlescent Mica Snowflake White and it took something like 7 coats to create.
That is an awesome color and is hardly white. True it is more elegant than racey but it is still an awesome color.
Glad I got my Yellow while it was still available.
Getting to the color thing. In this world we have objects that emit luminant light and those that reflect illuminant light.
A white luminant light source has a balance of color. You can not have black light source because then it is not a light source at all. It will be some type reflector if it is not emitting light (a light bulb that is in the off position is a good example). Human perception of the color of a light source is based on there amount of red, green and blue emitted - this is called light by addition. These are the Primary colors. I repeat that other than maybe a black hole that sucks light, you can not have a black light source - it is a contradiction in terms.
Now to reflected light, A black object is an object that absorbs all light and reflects none. Our perception of it is the absence of any colors It is created by the process of light by subtraction. When all three of the Secondary colors Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are added together as paint or ink onto an object the effect is a an object that absorbs all light ands reflects none (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow absorb Red, Green and Blue respectively). So a white colored object is an object that reflects all colors of light while a black object is one that reflects none.
In all instances it is correct to state white is the presence of all colors and black is the absence of all colors. We judge a color by the light it reflects or emits. We don't judge a color by the light it absorbs.

Additive and subtractive
All I can remember of optics is the additive and subtractive properties of colour and light. The following are excerpted from a Photoshop 'tutorial'.
Additive Color Theory states that in the natural world white light is made up of three basic components: Red, Green and Blue light. In theory adding these three primary colors of light, red, green, and blue, together achieve white. The theory goes on to suggest when any two of the primary colors are added together they make the secondary colors: Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.
Subtractive Color Theory explains how cyan, magenta, and yellow pigments or inks on paper subtracts white light components. Since white light is made up of red, green and blue light, the inks subtract out that particular portion or color of light. Whatever light that is left is recognized by the eye as a particular hue.
Wonder what Sir Issac Newton would have to say? [Good thing I taught only one class of Gr.11 Physics-major Biochemistry :o ]

Color choice is relative, it varies with culture and taste, arguing about it is as pointless as discussing about food, why westerners like huge tasteless beef steaks and Japanese like little uncooked fish on rice.
I think there was an article about colors back a few months on BMWs website on the prevalent colors in different countires. But I cant seem to dig up the article again.
The Germans and most Europeans like silver, it represents technology and solidity of metal, so much so BMW did like 5 shades of silver for European models.
The Japanese like white, it represents minimalist purity its the best selling color in Japan, it brings out every line, nooks and crannies on the body of the car...
The Chinese like red, its still revered as the Lucky color.
Heres the pic of the retractable key... glad they finally realized the importance of key, such a beautiful car opened by a mundane key...
Why didnt they put the remote on it though!?
