2004 engine reliability

So I just got to 80k on my 8 and everthing has been awesome, except for a few mishaps. I have been reading that ppl have to have their motor replaced around that same mileage. My question is what is the ratio or percentage of this happening?

I'm not worried about it, but I would like to know whatis the deal with this issue

Very small. Just check the oil every fill up.

Consumption varies depending upon how you drive.

For peace of mind you could pay for a compression test to see how in spec the engine still is. If that checks out, just keep up on standard maintenance. Coils, plugs, oil changes, etc and you should be fine. My engine blew around 83k due to "coil failure." Got an engine and now I'm at 112k with no issues.
