Sorry, I had to.

I purchased my '04 RX-8 about a year ago and lurked here for a couple of months. I thought it was about time to for me to register and have a place to talk about how I cant afford mods, hate my local Mazda dealer, and spread lies about future RX-8 models. I mean, thats what new members do right...on top of making bad first post by starting their own threads...

First thing: I went to Mazda to ask them how much it would be for me to purchase the Mazdaspeed CAI and have them install it (since i wanted to avoid taking the bumper off myself). They wanted to charge me $460 for the CAI and $490 for the install. I think im just going to avoid ever going to the dealership for anything...ever. Opinions?

Hello RX-8club.com. I hope we work things out after this post...

There are some DIY's about the front bumper removal. It takes about 1/2 hour for the novice. The CAI is also available here for a lot less money. Seeing's how you've been around you should know how to search for the answers.

Im aware of the search functions and i appreciate the advice. I just wanted to introduce myself and throw in the transformer pics somewhere. Best rx-8 related ebay purchase I have ever seen/made.

Yeah I think I might have to pick up one of those Transformers for myself...I was a HUGE Transformer fan when I was a kid! Do they come in red? :)

WoW , 490 for the install ? thats the the biggest rip off EVER.

man u know what, I was about to say 100 bux I do it for u. If u're in NYC area, I do it for u for free, just to make sure that u bring me back to that dealership and I wanna ask them how the Fuxk on earth that they can even try to charge you 490. Unless their labor rate is 490 per hour.

Thanks guys for the welcome. I cant take anybody up on an install offer (well anybody thats offered so far) because i live in the DFW area of Texas. I dont plan to ever go to the dealership for anything but warranty issues from now on, those damn vultures. They'll pick your bones...

But if any DFW area rx-8ers want to invite me to any meets, it'd be appreciated.

I should probably post that in a different part of the forum though...

CAI for 490?

But if you take off the front fender, can you gaurentee it will match up plesh after that? Installing it on your own in nice...but if it doesn't match up plesh after you're done it'd be nice to be able to point the finger at the stealership tech that installed it. Even if it is a pretty pricey finger you're pointing =/

^^^I got mine off ebay...sorry bud. I decided not to get a CAI yet due to the rainy season we've had in texas this year. Instead of battling the CAI or RAMair decision i decided to just buy a K&N filter and buy a Borla exhaust. Best decision ever.

So yeah, the RX-8 jazz is on ebay. Too bad that the new transformers movie is going to be a giant GM commercial...

GM had the most money to throw around :lol2:

there is a red one i believe. It is the medal japanese one. Might be on ebay. There was a link here somewhere for it a while back but no idea where it is now.
