10k mile review

So I hit the 10k mark yesterday and I wanted to do a write up. 4 years ago when this car first hit the market I was at a Mazda dealership looking at a Mazda 6 for my girlfriend who is now my wife. I saw a yellow car sitting on the lift and the sales lady said that is our new sportscar. It is a Mazda Rx8. I said does it come in white. She said no so I didnt get it. I went home and researched it. My wife said since it is a diff kind of engine and we didnt know much about mazda i should wait in case it has a buch of recalls. Damn, thank the lord I didnt get it. Skip a few years and I have wanted it since that day and have read countless reviews about it and almost bought it 6 times. I started to think this car would be my Eleanor. One day this past year I found my car with 2800 miles on it sitting at a Lexus dealership. I told my wife I wasnt going to get it only that I wanted to look. We ended up buying it. Some old guy traded it and a mercedes in for a 07 sc430. It was his weekend car.

During my first 500 miles with the car I didnt do much with it. I drove it soft and slow. Still new to me. The feel was nice and the ride was excellent. The interior was perfect and everywhere I went people stared at me. I brought it to work one day and my zone partner asked where I rented it from. Moron. After I hit 5k I started to open it up and see what all the hype was about. At this point it is still stock. I loved the handling and the performance. Its fast if you know how to drive it. Some dont.

I have noticed the rocks in a blender thing but researched it and found out what it was. I have had no issues at all that wasnt fixed right away. I had my front air dam coming off and my dealership gave me a brand new one free. No questions asked. They have flashed my car every other oil change. Only one guy works on my car at the dealership and he fully inspects everything. Anything that needs done he does it free of charge per the service manager. I still have issue with getting it into reverse. I have tried putting it into first gear then into reverse like some say but sometimes no luck. Sometimes is will go right in. Sometimes you would think I had no idea where reverse is. My service guy said it would be easier to go with a short shifter than to try and fix it. Everyone has the same problem. The oil problem is no problem with me. I dont drive it everyday so I can go longer with out having to change it. I only fill up about once every 2 weeks.

I noticed this car cools down really quick. After being in the mall for a little less than an hour my car cooled below the cold level on the temp guage. It has always done that. This car is bult really well inside and out from luxury to performance. From the lightweight hood to the carbon fiber driveshaft to the amazing suspension, this car has been perfect.

At 9500 miles I installed the Hymee. Wow. It sounds so good. I noticed right away first gear pulls harder. Before 1st was only to get me started. 3rd gear is sweet and zooming under overpasses is one of the best things on Earth. I used to never downshift. I cant stop doing it now. Its like crack.

I am at 10075 mile now and I absolutely love my car. When I get home from driving my police car that drives like a boat I enjoy getting into the 8. Totally different and 100 times better. Wish I had my blue/red lights and siren with the 8 though. That I do miss after work.

So my car is a little over 2 years old and has 10k on it. This car is not for everyone. My brother is obsessed with it and my mom says I will get a speeding ticket in it. My dad says be careful and my wife says go faster. So to those that think they will never get one, just wait it will come. My next mod will be the REVi and the same day will be a short shifter. Maybe that will get rid of my reverse problem.

Good to know your enjoying the 8. DO you push down on the shifter and and shift all the way to the right...then down?? because that could be why it might be hard to get into reverse. I've had people drive my and think its just a matter of shifting hard all the way right and down....

Same here, I looked at and test drove one when they first came out. I had already bought a new car at the time and don't like to buy first year productions so waited until this year to get one. I had a rotory in 72 so was not hesitant about buying one, if anything, I was eager. I now have 5K on mine and will not be driving it in the winter. I haven't driven it for a week and needed to move it (and warm it up) for construction of a new garage and took it out on the interstate to wind it up for the rush, just couldn't help it.

When I was a deputy a looooong time ago, it was called "professional courtesy" unless you were doing something extremely stupid.

Glad to hear your story.

No. Depends what they are doing if we even give them a warning. It goes with the nature. We are human so we do stupid stuff too. I just always watch what I am doing. I speed but I never roll stop signs. I stake out stope signs all the time. I did 22 stops on one today. It's like shooting fish in a barrell. I wouldn right another cop a ticket. I would probably slap a few times but not give him/her a ticket.

Mine does not cool down that fast. Even when it's 40 degrees outside, mine will stay warm for at least an hour.

Glad to hear things are going well. My friend gave a fellow cop a DUI. That was tough because the cop was well liked.

Thats funny, I used to have these on my truck. First time I ever turned them on, I pulled up to a stop sign and a cop was stopped at the stop sign to my right. I got a ticket for illegal lighting equiptment.
