Hopefully this will help some of us sleep better tonight
Nicely done. Car looks great too! Clean and tasteful.
I would also like to hear your driving style/conditions, oil used, other maintenance/issues, etc.

Go Texas Longhorns!
There are a couple 8's in Texas at or near 100K.
People don't log on to the forums to usually say how wonderful there car is running, so most car forums would make you think to never buy the subject car as its riddled with problems.
Sure the 8 has had its issues, but in the grand scheme of things, more than 98%+ are running around with no significant issues or problems.
I'm going to try to get the actual problem engine info to prove my point.

Wow Ever, I didn't realize your car had that many miles. It looked showroom fresh when I saw it. Anyway, I hope you don't mean you've just changed the sparkplugs at 90,000 miles?

I'll snap his neck.
One of the Mazda maintenance schedules actually calls for 7500 mile oil changes, but it only basically applies if you do nothing but highway driving.

What were your driving habits, obviously alot of highway miles, but did you run it like an indy car shifting at 9k often, or were you very gentle with the car. My car is at 49K and has had an ongoing problem with the trans output seal leaking!!! when I bought my car with 20K, it was already leaking. After 7 seals, I got a new trans under warranty. Ive been through 2 seals with the new trans. Mazda stopped warranting it saying I MUST be causing it. I denied and they said it was caused by shifting constantly at redline. Now, im no saint in my RX-8, but I dont shift at redline that much at all. Im a spirited driver but still baby my car and Ive had ongoing problems and I really need this car to last. Please, any advice or comments from ANYONE would be awesome, I would love for my 8 to see 100K.

My 85 rx7 was at 178k miles when it was taken out by a hit & run driver. Ran strong as all hell even still. ....If I could've afforded to repair that car I feel it would have hit at least 250 k .
I sold it as a parts car to a guy In Pottstown, PA who was an instructor at a mechanics school .... it's possible the engine from my baby is still in use today!!!
Congrats!! heres to another 100k

congrats! i'll be ecstatic if my 04 A/T makes it to 50k. only 25k left to go...
Did you ever have to rebuild or clean out the engine? If so then how much was it to do and how much time did you spend doing it?

It's funny because my car has had a number of major issues despite my meticulous care for the car. I am at 49k and my headlight is fogging up. 100k for a car now a days should not be much to celebrate. But good to hear at least your car has been reliable. But I will be impressed when it hits 200k on the same motor and trans without a major rebuild. Great looking car.
