Find the cheapest turbo you can buy and then proceed to pissing in your gas tank because it gives an extra 50hp.
But in all honesty, the easiest and cheapest way to get more power off the line is buy a new car. This question has been asked many times. |
^So have all of the OP's other questions...
You bought the wrong car, 007! |
ur right about the fact it burns up alot of gas , if u can keep the rmps down the its not so bad. saying i bought the wrong car ur way off base with that . got the car for only 6 gs and its mint with every opt. but a spoiler. when u dump the cultch and hit corners the way i drive . Cars all gravy in my books. dont want to spend 5 or 6 gs for a turbo kit . price i paid for the whole car . Drive it till the motor goes and swap a 3 rotor . Then we will c what time it is

ohhh man if I had a nickel for every person who just bought their car and said "Im gonna swap a 3 rotor"... hhmmm "dont wanna spend 5K for a turbo but I was thinkin about spending about 30K for a 3 rotor", riiiiighhhhhttt! |
Good luck with that...
|
If you got it for 6k then you probably shouldn't put a lot of money into it. It's hard to a accept but the rotary just doesn't last too long these days. If you don't take care of it right you'd be lucky to get to 100k miles without needing a rebuild. And even if you take great care of it you can't expect it to last much longer than that anyways. I'm assuming you have a lot of miles on it so have fun around the corners while you can. In my mind it's actually pretty fast off the line of you have a manual it just doesn't have the torque but that doesn't mean you can't be fast off the line. The best mod you can get will be a Cobb accessport. You will get around 13hp and 11 tq.

At first I was like, "Alright! He used a comma correctly!" Then I was like, "..........."
|
Just add NOS and you'll go fast...yes, very fast! :cwm27:

The car is built to go around corners fast, if you bought it to go fast in a straight line then sell it would be my best advice. Also, if you can't afford to throw 6 grand at a turbo kit for the stock engine, then forget about getting a 20b in there. :yelrotflm |

i have a 04 rx8 6sp and i raced a bmw 330i all stock and sadly i got sorta smoked. they the rx8 is suppose to have 238 horses and i know the 330i has a bout 230. in that case it should have been a close race but it wasnt

my moms suburban has like 400 something horsepower, does that mean it should smoke me because i only have 232? take into consideration weight of the car, gear ratios, torque, coefficient of drag and so on. |
im 18 i know alot about cars and where im from their are no tracks and its pretty dead at night cops never come around. but i raced a 350z once and beat it but i think the guy wasnt a good driver but not my fault. when i raced that 330i i was low on gas and my gas light came on. ive seen were rx8's are getting 189 hp on dynos when it say they are suppose to have 238 i mean i know it will drop but dang i dont think that much

wow..you do not know anything about cars. it might be 238 to the crank but it is not 238 to the wheels. even the cars that dyno in at 189 rwhp are not stock and have some upgrades on it. basically to brake it down to you, the engine has 238 hp at the crank but it is not all tranfered to the wheels. rear wheel horsepower (rwhp) is what matters.
being low on gas would be a good thing when you are racing because that means your gas tank is light and does not have all the added weight from gas in the tank. |
^ :uhh:
|
i know rwhp is going to be lower than the crank. just didnt think it drops that much.

^ street racing discussions and posts will get you a ban. It is also completely stupid.
From my new owners thread: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-forum-197/new-potential-owners-start-here-202454/ ________________________________________________ So how much power do we have anyway?: Officially, the RX-8 produces somewhere between 228hp and 238hp, depending on what publication you look at. Mazda kept revising the numbers, but the engine's actual output never changed. This is for the 6 port manual transmission engines. The automatics produce less power, because of their lower redline. The 4 port automatics produce around 192hp, and the 6 port automatics produce around 212hp. This is all measurements at the crank. The actual power put down at the wheels is significantly lower. Completely healthy 6port MTs put down about 180whp and 130wtq. The auto's are correspondingly lower. Now, what does this actually mean? Well, first take a look at the numbers. Notice how they are lower than an Evo's 300hp rating. And they are lower than a Mustang's 260hp-340hp. This means the RX-8 is SLOWER in a straight line. If you buy an RX-8, do NOT be shocked that you won't win at the drag strip. If you want to win there, buy a different car. If you buy the RX-8, don't come crying to us later on. We bought the car knowing full well how much power it produced. Those of us that want more do something about it. We don't create threads to whine about it. You can join us in flaming the people that do create threads whining about it, because you were smart enough to learn first. They weren't. ________________________________________________ It's really not that complicated :dunno: |
