1/18 AutoArt RX-8 Models

here are the first official photos of the titanium grey rx-8. The detail is superb and includes a fully detailed interior, rear freestyle doors, deatiled head and tail lights, carpeted trunk and floormats, and hand painted dash and engine details. The model will be available next month in titanium, red, yellow, and in LHD and RHD versions. Autoart also makes a winning blue 1/43rd model so maybe we can expect blue to come on the 1/18 model. The price will most likely cost $60+. More info to come.

props to tim at mad4models.com for the pics

Great! Now I have to wait in anticipation for my actual RX8 and now this model. Arg!!! I am dying! Thanks for the info, I had actually been searching in vain for a die cast to relieve the endless waiting!

I bought a Titanium Gray 1:43 AutoArt RX-8 model from a guy in Hong Kong (on eBay), and I was disappointed...the level of detail wasn't what I expected. Then again, I have a small collection of 1:24 size diecasts, and maybe my expectations were too high for the 1:43.

At any rate, I definitely plan to get one of these 1:18 versions when they're available -- the detail on these is incredible!

I would rather have this than the Book

This is so cool, what detail. I wish Mazda would have given us this instead of the book. The Book is ok, and the thermos and coffee mug aren't bad either but this is just cool.

Patiently waiting for the real thing.

For those who like to build your own model, Fujimi will release a 1/24 model for the RX-8 (2500 Yen ~ $22)some time this month. Check out this site:
http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljpage.cgi?FUJ03552

There is no actual photo of the model yet. They will probably post it once it is released. The model will not have as much details as the AutoArt. The AutoArt one is just incredible!

Very nice. Now who would like to bet: Which will we get first, the car or the model?

Well I've pre-ordered two models (seriously) but no money (£39.99 + p&p) will change hands until they are available, probably in August.

Looks as good as the real thing. It's amazing how detailed the interior of the cockpit looks.
