06 Dyno #s

I hope this is in the right section.
Has anyone done any and posted any dyno figures from the 06 car? It would be interesting to see where they stand.

I wish some people would because I have a suspicion that they have a little more power than the 04 and 05.

Amazing! You would swear I was a newcomer here.
As part of the information gathering process that some of us are deeply involved in, I asked a question that I thought could provide a response of great interest to many. That's all.

is there an expectancy for it to be slightly more powerful? I'm interested in what IKE said.

My guess is that they were able to get a little more power out of it through tuning and maybe a couple other minor tweaks. Most likely doing so in order to get the SAE results close to what the 04-05 was listed at. This is absolutely pure speculation on my part and is bordering on conspiracy theory. I just have a hard time believing the 04 and 05 models are much over 220hp.

It's remotely possible. My guess is that these cars lose about 35 horses through the driveline and I'd like to see how many are in the mid 190s.

If they got more than 1 or two HP out of it Mazda marketing would have changed the specs and the brochure, so I'd say you'll see no notable difference. Not worth typing all that anyway.

The '06 is rated at 232hp, which as I'm sure you know if less than the older RX-8s. I'm saying that the older RX-8s might be making less than that new 232 figure.

My thoughts on this are exactly the same as Ike's. You're not going to feel the extra horses necessarily. It would most likely be in the very upper range if it is the case at all.

The 04, 05, & 06 are rated at the same hp, the 06 numbers are just using the new measuring requirements. All of the engines are close to the 238 if you use the old requirements or at 232 using the new requirements. Assuming that the new requirements are the most accurate then they are all close to that number. By law I believe that a manufacturers can post a number within 1% I think of what they get based on the engines that are tested. So for example, 232 is the number posted, then the engines could have been tested and only made around 230hp and they are allowed to rate them at 232 or they could rate it around 228 but why would they want to advertise the low number when they can advertise a higher number.

I still believe that these cars with all of their electronics are not going to give you the numbers you think on dyno that measures whp.

I have a 06 6MT but it only has 197miles on it. So no Dyno for me for a while. I was thinking about doing it when and if I get the MS speed exhaust and intake.
Only dyno I know of in Miami FL is SFP (south florida performance) but those people are ***** and charge anywhere from 75-150$ for 3 runs depending on who is working that day.
Its 1 of those above ground dyno's, but they do have a wideban O2.

I'd like to get an idea of how rich the car runs.
