Hi all,

Managed to park my rx8 into a ditch and it took a minor impact to the right hand side.

Appears to have jammed the suicide door lower release catch - may be twisted slightly.

We've taken the inner door trim off but haven't worked out a way to remove it. I'm just trying to get the whole door off so I can pop a new one on. Both cables still respond to being pulled but only the top one actually releases.

Any insights greatly appreciated

Any technical suggestions that don't require a hacksaw or bat?

I'm loathed to smash it out cause the door is in pretty good nick (repairable).. be nice to keep it intact

 

what are you asking? how to remove the door or how to fix it?

 

Bummer. So how'd you find yourself in a ditch? Did you buy a new door? Find an exact replacement?

Found myself in a ditch 3 weeks after buying it just out of my depth and being an idiot. Hadn't even sorted out the insurance :\

Yeah, found an exact replacement (pearl white too, w00t).

 

you wont be able to take the door off properly if you cant open it. there is one 10mm bolt that holds the retract arm in place that you cant get to unless the door is open.. BUT you can remove the rear panel (not the door beside the rear seat) and remove the door hinges.. THEN you can maybe get to that 10mm bolt.. worse case get the door panel off and cut the cables.

Bummer. Aren't you going to have to take it to the body shop anyways to get the white door painted? Why don't you have them get it open for you?
