04 rx8 oil dipstick?

i bought my rx8 a few weeks ago.. and the previous owner of my car had replaced the dipstick with a home-made one (metal rod w/ dremal markings).. so first order of business with this car is to get a real dipstick.. but i cant seem to find the apropriate measurement for it.. autozone and such shops say they have a suitable size for me.. but they're all adjustable.. so what should i adjust it to?

Damn, that is ghetto as hell! You might want to try seeing if you can get one from a local junkyard first. Or just go to the dealer. Personally, I wouldn't go for some "adjustable" one. Too much room for error and just kinda "cheap" IMO. As for the car, if he ghettoed the dipstick that bad, I would be concerned about what else he half-assed on the car.

Believe it or not, I have one!
If you wanna pay the shipping(cheapest possible), I'll send it to you.

PM me if interested. Where you located?

If you just wanna buy one then go to http://www.finishlineperformance.com...cat=338&page=1 but it will NOT look like that picture!

for a car that requires you to top off oil and that burns out by design, someone was rockin a ghetto stick

Buy from a dealer or Mazurfers. DO NOT SKIMP OUT ON THE DIPSTICK.

Yeah, a pic would be cool to see.

Plus.........please verify that he didn't do anything to the top of the tube in any way as I don't want to send you this one for just the shipping cost and then have it not seal properly. Sound ridiculous, but the rubber stopper(if you will) on the dip stick is there for a reason.

of what the pic might reveal.

It's okay, even though blurry it looks like the tube itself wasn't modified.
See you PM's, the dipstick is on the way to the post office!

Had to run to Wally Mart and get a suitable box. Actually, it's pretty ghetto as I had to run home, cut it up, and make it into a triangle.
Any way, I then went to the post office and decided to ship it for just under $3.00, so with the cost of the mutilated box, we will call it $5.00 even....how's that?
Lady at the post office picks it up and says...."jeez, is there anything in here".........I expalin what it was and she says "okay, it can be there in two days for $21.00", I was like........"ummmmmmm no, how about cheapest way possible". That turned out to be just under $3.00, so add the box and we are up to $5.00, I PM'd you with my paypal.

from the pics, unless Im reading through the blur wrong, seems like the prev owner modded it so he didnt have to reach all the way in to check the oil. Like a extension?

Maybe the dipstick accidently ingested enzyte

That's what it looks like to me, but oh well.
It's not as horrific as I first thought it might look like!

Same here, I was expecting a coat hanger attached to a bottle cap, this actually made me feel better about the situation
