Is this '04 6-speed a good deal?

Saw a red '04 go through an auction last week but didn't bring enough. It's coming back this week. 77,000 miles, aftermarket wheels only 3 match, lowered, custom exhaust, custom front bumper badly cracked, good body otherwise. Can probably get it for the mid $5k's. Is it more trouble than its worth?

Any pics would be better, but if it's an 04 with 77k, then you need to check the engine compartment and the engine itself. Before you bid on it, try to get a compression test on the engine because if it didn't pass, then your out of luck on getting a new engine yourself. Plus, some body parts needs to be fixed or replaced and will cost you more money than it should. If that's all you could afford, then be it. Good luck whichever route you choose.

I dont think I would buy an rx8 at auction, you probably cant check it out at all. Without a compression test that 5k car could turn into 8-9k real fast before you even fix the bumper or wheels.

it depends. if you gonna mod it putting on different bumper and wheels, I dont see why not. just make sure it still has engine warranty 8 year/100k miles.
