My engine is done and Mazda denied the claim (not surprised).

Now I need a new engine "core" but I refuse to pay the $2800 that they want for one at my dealership.

Where is the best place to purchase a new engine? Mazmart?

 

Mazmart is the best in my opinion. Rick E has built a billion of them. Where are you located?

 

The only thing I don't like about buying a "core" is the amount of labor to tear down my original engine to install all the accessories on the new core.

I can get a full engine assembly on eBay for $2-3K and the labor would be MUCH cheaper to swap the engines.

 

Just for education purposes, what exactly was the reasoning they gave to the denial?

I honestly cant be bothered to type out everything I have been thru with Mazda.

Time to move on and solve the problem at hand.

 

I found a local salvage yard that has a 2008 RX-8 with 8,000 miles that wants $1500 for the entire engine assy. They included a 101 day warranty and I can also pay an extra $300 for a 1 year warranty.

I guess I will go that route.

Already did. The car is located in Belleville, Ontario witch is a few hours away and they are only charging me $75 for next day delivery. lol

Have I gotten the wrong impression?

I just got my 2004 8 last week with no warranty so I am a little paranoid about the engine.

 

remember, he's talking about just the core.

 

That's right, just the core and they want the original core back so they can rebuild it.
