Can't tell if actually interested or if taking a dig at another build that stalled out. Lol.

I'm actually interested lol. I'm curious as to what you are doing with the power steering since you have decided to delete the stock ECU. If you already explained this sorry to bring it up again.

The plan right now is to just make mounts for an NC Miata steering rack, and adapt a column mounted electronic power steering unit from a Saturn Vue Ion or Chevy Equinox. You can buy a tiny standalone controller on ebay for like 60 bucks and it just has one knob to adjust how much steering assist you have. Then rip out the column mounted unit from a junkyard car for less than 100.

I would have liked to just have manual steering but 315mm Hoosier A7's will likely make that a bit unreasonable.

Let us know how it goes. I'm currently working on a way around the electric power steering issue with my swap. I've also decided to completely ditch the stock ecu. Do you know if you can just direct the power steering unit? Thanks.

actually interested, had been looking forward to you completing it, but understand how these things go ....

You might be able to avoid that and stick with the factory EPS when the new Adaptronic modular ecu is released

It'll get done in the future, life is just getting in the way. I'm probably buying a house pretty soon here then I can drop like a 40'x80' steel shop in the backyard and then I'll get back to working on it.

I thought about the new PnP modular ECU but I'd rather just go with the universal modular and a flying lead harness. I think the Chevy column type steering might be lighter and can be easily controlled as well. Won't need to keep the RX8 steering control module or wiring for the Adaptronic to manipulate.

Six month bump! Enjoyed the thread; hope life is going well.

Do you have any pictures of how you bolted the side mount seat brackets to the floor? I saw a bunch of sheet metal welded on the floor and transmission tunnel; was that for reinforcement since you cut out the factory seat mounts?

It's been a year since the move (maybe), hopefully you have dug yourself out of the new home hole. Any updates?

Yeah trying to finish up with the remodel. Hopefully will be starting construction of the shop/garage out back within the next 6 months. I've only driven at track events like a handful of times in the past two years, maybe another year until I can get back into the swing of things and start working on car stuff more.

Was just going to check in here... Seen lots of posts of the Miata and was wondering how the RX was coming along. Glad to see it still has a spot in your driveway, even if it is moving slower than you hoped.

Hope you're doing well my dude
