I just wanted to say thank you to both for the updated info on the mount. Made me chose the rx8 performance over the banzi in my build list. Seems much more promising!

Update:
The car was at the Dyno (Beyond Redline Performace, Green Bay, WI) for three weeks. They tuned anything and everything. Its amazing what the AEM Infinity can do. The AEM has full control of the Drive-by-wire throttle body and it is just as responsive as a cable throttle body. They tuned in my Flex Fuel sensor so I can run anything from 91 pump gas to E85 and everything in-between. I don't have to do anything. Just simple add in the E85 and the ECU adjusts tune and boost levels accordingly. Also. Boost is controlled with Throttle position %. So instead of "High" and "Low" Boost. The ECU will read Throttle % and give boost accordingly. For example. Max boost @ WOT is 20PSI. But if I give it 1/2 throttle the ECU will regulate to a preset boost level. So 10 or 15 PSI. Same goes for 1/4 or 3/4 throttle. They also tuned in a "Clutch Switch" and "Brake Switch" Clutch switch allows for Launch control / 2-step. This utilizes VSS Brake Switch allows for me to essentially "brake boost" but with full boost. I have not tried out these features yet. The cars runs, drives, and idles amazing. But we did run into a boost creep issue. So horsepower was not able to be tuned. Only drive-ability. Basically how my single 60mm wastegate was routed was causing boost creep. I brought the car home and pulled the manifold out and rerouted my wastegate(s) I added two waste gates and got rid of the big single. Back to the Dyno I go! Pictures to follow. |
Nice man! I've heard lots of things about the infinity. Glad to hear it's working well for you.
What turbo did to change to? Keep up the good work my #norenesis brother!:icon_tup: |

heard this car got some serious updates, beat me to the draw even; don’t be shy bump …. :suspect:

Neal says he hasn’t been on the forum since forever, and the build is at 4,380 days now, so just going to share a few things he told me
early part of last year he got a new Garrett G40-900 turbo setup, conservatively tuned it was low 5xx whp and high 4xx ft-lbs https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...1239de501.jpeg . which he just recently did the new hot air intake :suspect: and some larger injectors, should be rocking the kazbah in a couple of weeks following a tuning session. During late winter-early spring of this year he beat me to the punch with the installation of the Hotel7 7-spd BMW DCT transmission, CANTCU controller, aluminum driveshaft, and PPF delete setup https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...1c8115130.jpeg . https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...cdacfa174.jpeg . along with a new full 3.5” exhaust exiting out the side in front of the RH rear tire https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...51882488d.jpeg . should be a real track monster after the new dyno tune … may the Schartz be with you! . |
Wow, that is a lot of car
|
The DCT swap is very exciting! Cannot wait to get on track with it.
I should probably also add that since my latest activity on the forums, I have put a full cage in this car with seats and harness. Bladder Type Fuel Cell with internal surge tank and brushless pumps, all new fuel lines, cooling upgrades, and a New Haltech Nexus R5 with full re-wire. I may have a photo dumb and a video for you guys I can share. Dyno is scheduled for next week, first track event in June. Next upgrades will be Brakes, Coilovers, and Carbon Roof. you were holding out on me with the good pics  even more awesome than I had realized.

Wow, amazing work. Great pictures. I would be worried to push that on a track its so beautiful. I really wish i would have extended my built to apex oil pain to increase the oil capacity a little. Oh did you design the front lip and rear diffuser? If not where did you get those pieces.

hey thanks! I actually did crash the car :/ it’s mostly fixed. It’s a race car now… I built and designed the front splitter myself. the rear diffuser is form Faircloth. Custom mounting points. https://fairclothcomposites.com/prod...QaAsb5EALw_wcB |

Nice Build! Great to see the DCT in there with some room and little to no modifications to the trans tunnel that I can see. I'm currently collecting parts for a build and have a ZF 8HP50 that I plan to use with a CANTCU. They are pretty similar in size, so fingers crossed I don't have to chop things up!
What are your thoughts on the Haltech? I'm planning to use Haltech or MaxxECU, MaxxECU may sway me if they can get Gen 2 ZF 8HP's working with their ECU by the time I need it since it would save me the cost of the CANTCU. |
Inputing the settings yourself for either that or DCT isn’t as simple as you might think. It can lead to a lot of frustration and headaches. The CanTcu is PnP and immediately provides OEM type operation, but I heard that even it has an occasional quirk that they have to work through and update for.

Basically what Team said. I do not know the support is there with MaxxECU on a local level? But having direct control is nice. I know a guy that is running the MaxxECU on a DCT Rx7 and he seems to like it. He is going to try a 8HP just because he likes to try new things. You can also send CAN programming commands to keypads and do some cool things there if you are familiar with CAN protocol and programming. Where Haltech does not have this feature. The CANTCU is plug and play. So that was super nice! it does have a few hiccups here and there, but I just drove the car in full automatic mode last night. Its was like driving a factory auto dang near. And with the push of a button, i'm slapping paddles. I have local support for the Haltech, and for the last four-five years have really enjoyed Haltech as a company and the support all around. I am sure someday they will have the ability to control the DCT directly. My tuner is controlling a lexus auto trans directly in his KA swapped Rx8. |
