Racing Brake BBK's, Rotors, and Pads!!

Race Roots in now very proud to be a direct dealer with Racing Brake!
To kick off this Joyous event we are doing the following special!!

NOW FREE SHIPPING!!

We have everything from BBK's, Two-Piece Rotors, One Piece Rotors, Brake Lines, Hawk Brake Pads, Racing Brake Brake Pads!!

Why is Racing Brake the best out there?

The RB Rotors design uses a curved vane over the OEM straight vane which improves air flow and therefore makes the rotor run much cooler. With Racing Brake Rotors they use what is known as an ElectroDeposition Paint (EDP) which was first introduced by Racing Brake to the performance industry in 2002. This EDP versus other cadium or zinc coating is better becasue of the increased resistance to corrosion with uniform surface coverage on both edges and inside vanes. The EDP is also more enviromental friendly then the others and has a nicer appearance. Other benefits included a 3D modeled rotor to endure dimensional accuracy which use reinforced ribs to reduce warpage and convergent vanes which makes the disc cooler and last longer. The Racing Brake also incorporates open slots to vent gas and debris without build up.

Benefits of a Two-Piece Rotor?

In addition to the benefits already stated for the One-Piece Rotors, the two piece has Convergent Curves for one which allows air to be circulated more efficiently, which has both an inboard and outboard Air inlet to allow even more cooling for the disc. The Racing Brake rotors are also center mounted versus surface mounted which allows for a balanced stress load. With the Racing Brake Rotors being Uni-directional it makes installation a snap because traditional rotors are just directional so they would be specific for which side they would be mounted on, no worries with the Racing brake rotors!

Regarding the Rx-8 aftermarket brake pad; the Racing Brake caliper uses the brake pad shaped D647, which is the stock brake pad shape for Nissan 300ZX and Subaru WRX (’06-‘08). It’s also referred to as D460. So brake pads made by any company that makes this same shape will work in the RB4045 caliper, which is the one used in the Rx8 BBK.

The brand is not that important; however, it is critical to run the correct type of brake pad to match the driving style (street or racing). Some people have had issues with brake pad deposit when they run street pads for racing applications; see our warning here. Unfortunately, when issues like this occur, customers are quick to blame the rotor when in fact the problem is due to the brake pads!

Yeah it just started!

We are still waiting on our stocking shipment, it seems I caught Racing Brake at a bad time, all my stuff is in the middle of a big move for them.

Should be another week or two before I can ship most of the stuff out, some I have stock on hand.

Seems like the weights you quote through your site are very different from what is shown through this URl.

http://forums.racingbrake.com/showthread.php?t=35

Why is that?

^Are you looking at where it says " Weight: " on his site? That is the weight used to calculating shipping weights, so it includes the product and everything inside the box...

^ no, looking at comparison of weights between 1 and 2 piece rotors...

Weight Comparison
One-piece 12.3 lbs.
Two-piece 9.8 lbs.

Weight Savings: 2.5 lbs.

Not consistent with what is on RB site or scales from link I provided. Must be a typo

EDIT: Never mind, differences attributable to front vs rear rotors

This might be posted on there but with the caliper upgrade, will you run into issues with running stock rotors? Also, is ABS retained with these calipers?

With the caliper upgrade you will be Fine, this will fit 17'' Wheels and the Stock 18'' wheels as well. These also fit the deeper offset Enkei with no issue.

ABS is retained with the caliper upgrade as the ABS does not interfere with the caliper it connects directly to the back of the Rotor.

All OEM systems will be retained with the caliper upgrade.

How true is this statement about 2 piece rotors? Quoted from someone who races...

"They need constant service as they are designed 4 racing and the 2 come apart and must be re tightened and torqued"

I would assume the Racing Brake One-Piece rotors paired with Racing Brake's ET-500's would last as long as OE pads/rotors, as well as provide better stopping capability even if they see occasional track usage?

I'm in the market for brakes so this is good timing

Yes I would go with the ET500's, they are an excellent match, great compound.

I haven't heard of anything like that, I am checking into it with Racing Brake.

Awesome information... more questions...

Can you post an image of the Racing brake front pads next to a stock sized pad for comparison? I'm interested to see if these calipers house pads larger than stock. I know you've installed this kit on your car, how do you like it? Pedal feel improved?

This is the Response I received to your question.

The statement is true for competitions’ design – Brembo, Stoptech – They use lock-tite which over time and temperature cycles, the two parts can become loose (due to aging or going over the temperature limit) and requires regular checking and maintenance.

In fact when we ship our Steptech/Brembo replacement rings, we include our hardware which replaces theirs, eliminating the use of lock-tite.

Also...here is a picture of the hardware in question.

I just started last night and not everything is here, still waiting on the calipers and the rear rotors.

Here is an Image of my Stock Sport Suspension Pad and the Racing Brake ET500 Pad.

The Stock pad is on the top and Racing Brake ET500 on the bottom, as you can see the Racing Brake pad has slightly more surface are coverage than the stock pad.
