10k is roughly what a dealer would give you on a trade in for a 2004 rx8 with GT and 50k miles. So private party I would expect 11-12k range. Given the environment (high gas prices, high unemployment, recent $4500 gov't subsidies), I don't know how low the price needs to be to sell.

The prices do blow. No the car was at a place called GreenLite. Really helpful people but a few days after I put in my paperwork, he told me he wished I would have put a deposit on the car because people were looking at it. I said.. I thought this was a done deal. I have the down payment in hand and he said nah, don't worry about it, see you Tuesday.... it's been keeping me stressed.
The Ghetto mirrors are fake carbon-fiber M3 mirrors, white serious sun damage to the fake fiber and yellow, hazy lenses. They're hideous.
I don't mind the price, TBH. The dealer's willing to work with me, and that's what matters to me. And it drives like a dream, it's really, really strong. Everything seemed perfect, even almost got a ticket during the test drive. XD

Alright here's an update. I got approved today, I just have to come up with a larger down payment then I already had. So, I've got to wait until Friday when I get my check, and then Saturday when I actually have a free minute to make the drive. lol It's killing me. I should be in it Saturday, Monday at the lateset.

I'll let you guys know when I finally get it and I'll post tons of pics for you. :P

Congrats. I was looking at that one on craigslist a while back. Test drove my first 8. Took me 20 minutes to figure out how to put it in reverse. lol

Yeah. Considering it was my 2nd time driving a stick on the road, i didnt do too bad. And the dealer didn't come with me (weird) so i was more comfortable. Im still not sure if i want an automatic or manual. With the bumper to bumper traffic in central Florida, i might just look for a nice automatic.

Just an update, I test drove it today and it ran smooth as butter. I heard no odd noises, nothing out of place. The starter was the old one, it took it a second or two to start. The only thing I noticed at all was that when the fan came on and off, the click noise was incredibly loud on the outside. Is that normal? haha. They're doing my paperwork now, they're also going to take it to Mazda for me and have the recalls and flashes checked for me. I should be in it next week.
(for above)
Auto is fun and quick, I face stop and go every day in the DC metro area and I'm glad I have the AT. Plus being half asleep during my commutes means I have one less thing to worry about when I randomly become conscious.
You can put the AT in semi-auto and still have a very good time. Either way you'll have a good time. Don't let the AT haters get to you.

I think whatever good deal i swing by will decide it. Shopping for an RX8 in florida is a pain.

Haha of course. I've been kind of lurking since the middle of last year, so I've got quite a bit down by now. It was just specifics that I needed to know. Thanks for all the support guys, I'm proud to finally be amongst you. :P

That's honestly not a bad price for the car. But what trim was it? because I got mine with the grand touring package for 10k and had 70k miles on it. It was a really good deal because I knew the kid, and I knew he took really good care of it. Also it has a billy boat exhaust on it and some other performance parts. I Also do that same thing where it goes into 6th, instead of reversing. I feel like I'm killing my transmission every time. Also, just for the future, there's one thing I liked to look for when shopping for 8s and it was the exhaust tips. I found that if the person didn't clean the tips, usually they didn't take very good care of it. Its easy to tell to. Black? or Shiny? =)
