Would you buy an RX8 that...

Thank all of you for your help on my prior thread. I've still been shopping around and I've found a '06 6 M/T RX8 with 57K miles selling for around $9-10K. I called the dealership where it was for sale because they hadn't posted the mileage or price. The salesman told me the mileage and price, and I then asked for a carfax/autocheck and he told me to his knowledge it was clean as the body showed no signs of damage or paint respray. After some demanding on my part he told me that according to the autocheck, it had some minor work do to the back bumper. I saw the autocheck and it came back clean, i.e. no salvage/rebuilt/remanufactured title, but it did show the accident. The images look pretty clean and I like the color (white) not to mention some aftermarket (black) rims that make the car look sick. If I am serious about this car I do plan to check it out for myself but I have to drive 2+ hours to see it. My question is, do you respected gentle folk ever consider buying an RX8 that had been in a previous accident (read no salvage/rebuilt/reconditioned title)?

Mine came with a clean check, not listed anything, when I found a water lead I found evidence of work in the right rear, including welding to get stuff straight. Car still runs like a bat out of hell and I love it.

Another example, my 6 had most of the rear ripped off by a fool. Car was repaired correctly, and it is doing fine. I trust it with my daughter.

Look it over. If they fixed it with out having to repaint fenders and such, you are probably good to go.

It is fairly easy to pop the rear of the trunk out and the carpet to see what is going on behind it. If you see a lot of bent and rusted metal, bail. If it is pristine, you are probably good with the car. If somewhere in between, you have a negotiating point.

Only real issue is it is not Nordic Green, they are the fastest ones...

Also, check out the treads in my sig for info on before an owner and after...

You can find a car with similar mileage without accident damage for the same price.
Now, if you can get them to drop the price even more, it might be worth looking at, but I would want to take it straight to a collision repair shop, and pay them to remove the bumper, and inspect for hidden damage.

BC.

I'd be sketch about the dealer more if they're not going to give the Carfax when you demand it. The dealer I got mine from, as soon as I sat down at the table, all the car's history, between that and it's different services were laid out in front of me to see the car's full history.

But as far as the dealer though, ultimately, that's on if you plan on having anything to do with them or not. If you don't in the slightest, just go by the car, see if it feels right. If you're worried about it at all, don't buy it. Get one that sits well on your mind.

But still, get the Carfax one way or another, I think Carfax can do it for you if they absolutely refuse to, but even still, that's very poor customer treatment if a dealer won't.

as far as buying a car if its been in an accident is all dependent on a few things.

1. would need to see all photos from the accident to see what all was damaged.
2. location is important. the rear might not be to bad but I would never buy if an accident was in the front, unless very very very minor.
