Question Who is LEASING their vehicle?

This is a very important question, as that alone might cause me to get the RX-8 sooner than usual. And that might or might not be a good thing.

What I want to know is:

-What was the cost of car? (at or below MSRP?)
-How much did you put down?
-What is the monthly payment?
-For how long? (Lease Term)
-Money Factor (Lease Rate percentage)
-Stipulations for lease (miles per year, balloon payment, other things that is important but not mentioned)

The reason I'm asking this is that I went to a dealer is Santa Fe last weekend and he said that there is a lease deal of $299/month for a $30,500 RX8. You'd put down about $4000 and make those payments for 48 months.

Not a bad deal on the face of it. By comparison, our was:

Cap cost: $30,824
Cap cost reduction: $3500
Term: 39 months
Mileage: 15k/year ($0.18/mile excess)
Residual: 54%
Money factor: 0.00270
Monthly payment: $415
Termination fee: $395

Make sure you check out leaseguide.com before you get into a lease - if you've never done one before, there are many pitfalls and traps to beware of. In particular, run your figures through their calculator to check that everything appears kosher.

Mileage: 15k/year ($0.17/mile excess)
Residual: ~46%
Money factor:~0.00295
Monthly payment: $449 including 7% Florida sales tax
Termination fee: $0
Total out of pocket $3,000

I'm negotiating with sales people on both an 8 and a Z, and the Z guy keeps telling me its bogus to worry about negative equity entering a lease if its only a couple grand. The Mazda people disagree. In my case it'd be about 3K, but I'm curious if anybody else here has been told anything either way.

I just did a 5 year lease for $299 a month; tax (6.25% here in Texas), title and license down, around $2,000. Traded in a truck that they gave me 6,000 for. Seemed like a good deal to me.

I forgot to add that it is a fully loaded 6-speed (with the Navigation system too) that had a MSRP of $35,454 (give or take a few bucks, I forgot the last few figures!)

Were these factory-supported leases or something that the dealership aranged on their own? My local dealer is telling me the 8 is "not available via leasing" from the dealership, which I assume means MNAO. Any help here?

I think that the dealership arranged these leases on their own. If they were supported by MNAO, then wouldn't we be seeing a whole lot more of $299/month leases?

Mine was through a third-party leasing company. At the time, Mazda Credit's money factors weren't anywhere near competitive.
