Me as Primary Driver = $328/month = $3600 a yr(after 10%-15% upfront) <--- This is what I currently pay by myself(give or take)

This is what you forgot.

My Dad as Primary = $1450
Me as Secondary = $1900

1450 + 1900 = $3350 a year(no down since my dad is primary) = $335 a month (only 10 months of payments)

I could have saved $300 if I did it with my father as primary, but $300 is nothing and would rather just put it under my name.

Gotcha!!! I was a bit confused.. well good call chief I'm sure it'll go down after a year if you stay away from the lawman

RxMadness 04-05-2009 11:22 AM

Getting killed right now @ $3k/yr (more than my payment).. 23, two moving violations, no accidents.

And to make things worse, got a ticket 3 weeks after getting the 8, which hasn't posted yet but will screw me up this fall.

mat128 04-05-2009 11:50 AM

Currently paying 1850$ canadian / year for insurance on my RX8 with Wawanesa. I have 2 vehicles on my policy. It used to be 2000$ back when I only had the RX8.

One speeding ticket (25km/h over limit so about 15mph), 20 yr old.

One company quoted me 6000$ last summer (when I got the car).
Good thing I looked around!! saved 4000$

Sheehan 04-07-2009 09:11 AM

I am currently paying right over $100 a month for insurance.
I am 18 and luckily my parents let me sign up under them and just make me pay the $100 a month. Full coverage. I'm lucky I guess.
I've never had a ticket and I make good grades though .... That might help
$500 Deductible

cyclone1208 04-07-2009 09:20 AM

Currently paying $98.85 a month with a $250 deductible....I'm 23 years old with a clean driving record and I also took the defensive driving course which brought down my insurance big time....

EinHeisserSchrei 04-07-2009 10:34 AM

You guys think that's bad? This is what it's like in Ireland::::

JDM import has higher insurance than EUDM for some unknown reason so:

€2500 last year, was 22 y/o with clean license for 3 years.

€2000 this year, 23 y/o with clean license.

€more next year as I have acquired 4 points in the last month for speeding :( (The car turned into an RX-Late for work because it wouldn't start!!)

Before settling on that first quote of €2500 I had quotes of up to €5000 due to it being an RX-8. Some companies wouldn't even quote me!

itzHollywood 04-12-2009 05:36 PM

At the moment i am paying 1200/6mo so $2400 a year but they just offered me a "driving log" that will lower my payments to $178 a mo so around $2100/yr with statefarm

JOLIET WANKEL 05-05-2009 08:59 AM

$178/mo. 30 years old, single and have been with state farm for 10 years. i've totaled 2 cars in the last year costing them over $40,000 for cars plus $5000 in hospital. i got 10 moving violations recently in about the last year, have had just enough of them put on hold for court supervision so i could keep a regular license.

MrOodlesnNoodle 05-24-2009 11:47 PM

I'm 21. First car and I'm the only one on the insurance. 04 with 40,000. Military also. I'm paying 129 a month for full coverage and low deductible in Cali.

Hidef1080 05-25-2009 04:20 AM

Full coverage + low deductible + living in the city = 2k a year.

DarkLord7854 05-25-2009 04:53 AM

An arm and a leg, it's becoming a bit hard to find good ones to take off from people lately though.. :(

SLWASFK 05-25-2009 02:14 PM

I'm 23, no traffic violations in over 3 years. I'm paying $2160/year for full coverage on my 7 and 8.

Juansito 05-25-2009 02:39 PM

I use to pay 503 a month with statefarm (posted on page 4)

I switched to progressive and now im paying 2,525.00/6 months which is now 420.99/month
I just did the defensive driving course so im going to get another 10% off which is 2272.5/6 months

Then ill be paying about 378.75 a month.
If im ticket and accident free for the next 6 months it will go to about 340 or so....I got 1 accident and im in NYC -- 22 yo.

Wert4580 06-16-2009 04:00 AM

Age: 18 - Fail
Location: L.A. - Fail
Car: 2007 - Fail
Liability - Win?

The sum of all these is that with the RX-8 listed under my dad's name, but with him, my mom, and I posted as operators is a premium of $1600/yr. Which is absolutely ridiculous, considering my '67 Squareback costs $184/yr..

Between the insurance and the terrible fuel economy, I don't know what's worse financially about stepping up from an aircooled Volkswagen? Everything else is just wonderful, though!

Fencig 06-16-2009 09:25 AM

Just over $800/yr for full coverage with upgraded bodily injury (500K) and property damage (100K) through State farm. Should go down next year quite a bit since I qualify for low milage use.

39 yr old, single male with nothing on my record except rolling my jeep in an ice storm (which they don't count against me).

Easy Driver 06-23-2009 02:45 PM

$646 total for six months on new '09 with 1k collision deductible from State Farm. Liability 100k/300k/50k $232. Personal injury 5k $46. Damage to auto other than collision ($500 deductible) $103. The collision deductible part was $183. Uninsured Motorist $58 + $24 prop damage.

NautyOne 06-24-2009 02:31 PM

Currently a paying little over $120 a month.

I'm also singed up underneath my parents name with full coverage.

18 years old with a clean record.

Geico.

PrimusSucks 06-24-2009 03:36 PM

Did you not have the chance to pay double the fine to get it marked as a non-moving violation? Lord knows how many times I've had to do that (6 speeding tickets and 0 have ever gotten to the ears of my insurance company for this reason!)

EDIT: I pay $135/mo but I am under my parents insurance. 23 years old, one accident 6 years ago. The only way I get away with being under their name is I share my dads name and since I bought this house when they moved to Chicago, the insurance company thinks he still owns it thus I am under their roof. Haha.

Mr.We$t 07-04-2009 06:34 PM

Well so far what I've noticed is that NYC insurence is horrible!! I'm paying 7,200 a year for insurence under my dad. 20 years old, 2005 grandtouring.no tickets accidents or anything. I need some serious advice!

rodjonathan 07-04-2009 07:11 PM
