what pricing are you getting for 2005 RX8's?
There appear to be no current incentives for 2005 RX8's except $1000 off for what have to be the worst lease deals on the planet (way too high payment relative to the purchase cost)
despite this a local stealer is offering me slightly below S-Plan for a 2005 base no option 6 spd, approx. $2100 below MSRP. With the current gas prices I suspect at least some people will be leary of purchasing a gasoholic rotary engine and the RX8 will start stacking up on the lots.
This seems high compared to what some people have paid in the past. So I was curious to know what kind of deals people may be geting on 2005 RX8s?
TIA

S-plan is only about $20 below invoice.
Check your figures, S-Plan has a little asterisk that says "plus destination charges", whereas most of the time they show invoice-prices with the destination charge included.
When you add-in the destination charges, S-plan is almost the same as invoice.

FWIW, I used Autotrader.com to find a bunch of 2004 RX-8's and called around to about 6 dealerships until I found what I wanted.

Yeah, I have been having a problem with locating a good RX8. I visited 2 dealerships and took a look at two cars. No luck so far. I am considering one of the cars, but not sure if the dealer will go for what I can offer.

that's only if you actually get the S-plan, he was quoted below S-Plan and my comment was in reference to his mention of it i.e., they were quoted about the same deal

Freedom Costs a Buck o' 5
I just got an offer in the mail yesterday from my dealership for up to $4000 off a 2005 Mazda, including RX-8, and 3.9% for up to 60 months. The offer is for current Mazda owners only. It's tempting, but I don't know if it would be worth it or not. My RX-8 spent alot of time in the shop in the beginning for small stuff, and I just now got most of the kinks worked out. Are the 2005's any more fuel efficient?

carsdirect is showing $100 over/under invoice depending on the ZIP code I use. Some areas (ZIPs) may show a higher or lower price.
These are pre-negotiated no haggle prices, but the dealer may tack on a "doc" fee on top of the price. But still not bad for 0 work.
There is a $2k lease incentive if you lease via MAC, but the residual is poor and the money factor is high - so that is not really a good deal, but it does get you the car for $2k under cost.

The invoice isnt really the dealers actual net cost. No matter what they tell you they arent losing money by selling cars for $100 under invoice. They just know that customers all want to know the invoice price nowadays, and so they have adjusted their selling strategies accordingly.

Of course they will want to add dealer or "doc" fees to the deal, and the majority of buyers will have a trade - and the trade lets the dealer make back lots of profit they gave up making someone a "below invoice" deal.
I am helping a guy get an Accord for his family - he thought $300 under published invoice was a good deal (including dealer fees). UNTIL I told him Honda has a dealer incentive this month of $200-750 per Accord sold. I put him in touch with a high-volume dealer and he is getting the same car for over $700 less. He is happy, and now is a better informed buyer :D

Either that or you had a trade in that you didn't get enough for.
I (personally) would not want a base car - for sure a base AT car. The sports pack adds HID headlights, stability and traction control, LSD, lower profile tires, larger rims, fogs, larger brakes, better suspension. A lot to NOT get to save $1,700 or so on at AT car. Even on the 6mt the sports pack should the minimum anyone would get.

It was advertised in the paper at one dealer and I had another
match it.
I had a sport package on order but I couldn't wait the 10 weeks
Everything in California is either base or GT

Don't see how they could do that. No known incentives on 05s other than $2k lease incentives. Invoice shows $25,638 and hold back is about $544. Don't see how (or why) they would sell you a car and lose over $1k on the deal.....

Back in the saddle. Just got back to town with my clone VRed (see signature). $35,694 (MSRP) + $249 (dick fee)= $35,943.
Paid $32,559 (S-Plan) + $249 (Dick Fee) = $32,808
Invoice is $32, 585. So S-Plan is $26 below invoice. Whooppeee!
Total savings $3135. Without the haggling bs.

What I said is that invoice price is not the actual NET cost to the dealers. They aren't selling cars below their actual cost when they sell them at $100 below invoice even though they might tell you they are.
I totally believe the price MX5racer got. Every week a local dealer here in Portland, Oregon advertises every 2005 RX-8 in stock at 3500 off MSRP, so thats $4k off with Gerber.
