Warranty question

I'm looking at new AND used RX8s.

if I were to pickup a used one, did mazda ever alter the length / duration of the factory powertrain warranty?

i'm planning on buying it, and financing, and i'd like to have at least 2-3 years of factory warranty. i have seen low mileage 05s..but given we are into 08...if the 05 sold in late 04 or EARLY 05, it would already be 3 yeard into the warranty.

i'm not so much worried about clutches, shocks, etc...heck, that stuff i'll upgrade and mod.

but ia m concerned about catalytic converters, the ENGINE, tranny, differential..the big ticket items that would cost several grand to repair. i'd like to avoid making mega $$ repairs while still paying on the car.

i believe i read the powertrain warranty goes 5 years or 60k....but havne't confirmed that. i s that on ALL RX8s or only some years?

the sweet spot for deals looks like 05s and 06s. I've seen those in the high teens to low 20s.

i have no doubt I could find a very clean, 06, with 25k miles or less on it and negotiate them down from 23k asking to about 20k flat. with my 5-7k i have to put down, i could get the monthly down to a fairly low level. as this is a third/toy car, i really don't want to be spending a ton and I really don't want to try to save a few grand on a used car only to get screwed on repairs.

thanks.
