In most states, the sales tax is due when you register it. The DMV collects it. SOME states allow the dealer to collect it and the dealer would then forward the money to the state.

For RI, it's due, payable to the DMV, by the 15th of the month following the purchase date. Considering you re-sold the car within 2 weeks, you will probably never be contacted about it.

I don't mind having to pay the sales tax if it come down to that cause I was fully prepared for that. If I get penalized every month that I didn't pay and havn't got any notice then I will be mad cause yet again more money going out the window.
