I'm looking to buy an '04 RX-8. I found one for $7000 that has had the engine, transmission and clutch all replaced. No collision or anything, motor and trans were replaced under warranty. New motor and trans have 1500 miles, the body has 98,000. Does that seem like a good deal? I've never owned an rx8 so I was just looking for a little help.

It could be OK. Engine and trans can be a problem on the car. I have 15000 miles less and I'm getting rust on the rear quarter panel (inside out).

 

private seller ??? if so, there has to be a reason for selling ... you need to get a compression test FOR SURE before you buy it..

 

Yeah its a private seller. He was saying that the reason for selling was because he couldn't afford the insurance and has two other cars. But yeah I'll definitely have the compression checked. Is there anything else i should look for?

 

Insurance on these cars is pretty cheap usually, being 4 door and having a 1.3L engine. Maybe he just has a horrible record..
