Searching for a 2005 pearl white RX8

I am in the search of a 2005 pearl white RX8 base MTX w/sport package. I have called 1-800-639-1000 (which is the division of MazdaUSA that helps you find exactly the car you are looking for).

After 25 minutes on the phone (the lady searching the RX8 inventory and where they are located) suggested two things:

1) I can have the dealer contact the Regional Sales Manager so she/he can get them from the port. There are a bunch of cars waiting to be delivered. Delivery time is about 1 week.
2) I can order one. They are still taking orders for 2005 models. Estimated delivery time is between 3-4 months [JUST EDITED].

I asked her and she confirmed that there are no incentives for 2005 models.

Any thoughts…

Have you tried the website? http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/hand...modelYear=2005

On the left click-on Quick Tools. You can search inventories at dealerships by zip codes. This is how I found mine. Hope this helps.

Based on my recent experience of a special order vehicle, the turn-around time is approximately 2-3 months. So, if you put in your order today, it would probably be built late June/ early July and be delivered in mid-August.

So just depends on whether you value getting exactly what you want... Special orders usually involve a deposit, but dealers are more willing to cut you a good deal on existing inventory.

Personally, I felt waiting for the exact RX-8 that I wanted was well worth the wait.

My mistake, I meant to say 3-4 months and not weeks. I just corrected my original post. About Mazda inventory search, it was not working this morning. This is why I called them.

I am glad I did. I found out about all these cars waiting to be delivered and that they are still accepting orders for 2005.

I am going to be visiting a few places this weekend to see how things go...

Hope you find something, I have found Hubler West a pleasure to deal with. We have a group of RX-8ers in Indy that get together periodically. Check the MW forum from time to time, good luck with your purchase.

That's funny... I got my 6 from Hubler Mazda West. I agree. They are great to deal with. Last week when I stopped by I was hoping that they were going to offer me more for my 6.

They are the ones that actually gave an 8 for a 24 Hs test drive.

There is a white 8 MT sport pkg with 67 miles in SE Michigan dealership. I tried to deal for it a week ago but they didn't go under MSRP. I ended up getting mine from OH.

I am glad you were able to find one. My fear is that if I start calling other dealers (from other states), they may say yes to this, yes to that. Then when the moment comes and I drive to where they are they may change things around... I am not sure...

How did you nijelSC deal with them?

Thank you...

I saw it a couple of days ago. I have been following the thread. He has not responded to any of the comments made...

BTW, that one has a spoiler and a moon-roof. I don't want that. I can live with the moon-roof if I have too (price wise), but I don't want the spoiler...

Gateway Mazda in Denver has one--no spoiler. I'm sure they will give you a decent deal on the car.

I just found one, 22 miles away from my house, which is not bad at all. I am going to stop by this Saturday morning to look at it. They are asking $200 more because it is white. Total MSRP $28,895 (does not inlude taxes, title and lic. fees)

The sales manager said over the phone that the lease option included $2000 off the MSRP. I didn't know about this and I couldn't find it on mazdausa.com so I called Mazda (1-800-222-5500 ext. 4) and they told me that I should call Mazda American Financing (1-800-945-600) and of course they sent me back to the dealer saying that they don't know anything about this...

There's a pearl white 2005 at http://www.mazdadirect.com/ in Columbus, Ohio.

It's a 6MT with sport package (I think, their webpage kind of sux). $27,620 msrp.

Just FYI that's not a Dealer thing, that's a Mazda thing. The White is a Tri-Coat Pearl paint and is a $200 option.

The sales manager said over the phone that the lease option included $2000 off the MSRP. Numerous dealers have been giving this deal, so there must be some validity to it. $2000 is $2000. I don't care where they're getting it from as long as I don't have to pay it, ya know?

I agree with you Sigma about the $2000. I was just trying to validate that info. so I don't get disappointed when (and if) they tell me otherwise... Now, the fact that you have heard about this discount makes me believe that it could be true.

I also found the $200 listed in the Mazda web site for the white paint.

Remember the $2000 comes right off the top of whatever deal you do on the car. If you think you need to pay MSRP for one, think again. You should be able to get near invoice before taking the rebate off.

Thank you. Since I qualify for the S-Plan, I don't think I will be able to negotiate more. In other words S-Plan - $2000, right?

That would work. They will try to confuse you to get you to pay more for the car than you really need to. That's one way they benefit from the leases--by making you think only about the payment.

How did you nijelSC deal with them?
Deal with who? MI dealer or OH dealer?
With MI dealer I was dealing directly. I offered them my price. They didn't accept it. Then I offered them a lease monthly payment based on invoice and $2,500 in rebates. They told me it is a Mazda3 payment and I walked out.
With the OH dealer I requested a quote by email. They quoted me invoice for the car. I knew about $2,000 Mazda lease rebate so I asked for a lease over the phone. They gave me all the lease numbers. I calculated the monthly payment and it was different than the one they gave me. So we argued about it over the phone. Then I emailed them my numbers, they accepted them and we had a deal.
I ended up with $100 under invoice for the car price, $2,500 in rebates ($2,000 from Mazda + $500 gerber). I didn't pay even a cent picking up the car. 24 months/24,000 miles, $407/month everything included.
I had two more better offers from other dealers but I didn't want that color.

Very good nijelSC. I didn't know the RX8 had rebates. Can you please tell me which trim you got and what features? I am glad you were offered those $2000 off, this means that what they told me over the phone is true. What is the $500 gerber discount you are talking about?

I don't know too much about leasing but I know that the monthly payments also depend on how much you finance...

It is a red MT sport pkg with rear wing spoiler and 19 miles. Like I said no any "out of the pocket" money. Just got there, signed the papers and drove home. Technically the dealer transformed the rebate into down payment, first monthly payment, T&L, sales tax on the down payment. That was my first lease to. Seems right to me.
Here is the Gerber rebate:
http://www.irv-silverpop.com/mazda/gerber/
Just fill the form and wait for the $500 certificate from Mazda. The dealer didn't know anything about it but honoring it was a part of the deal.

Great post nijel--this is what I am planning to do as well if I can get the financing. I don't know how picky Mazda is about credit.

Hey how much was the leasing fee? What was your MF?

Get your credit score first. Costs about $7 on-line. All dealers ask for it and how long you have your credit record with the bureaus. Don't let them check your credit before you have a deal. It hurts your score.
I have 781 credit score, which really helps in negotiations. And no security deposit was my requirement to the dealers I was dealing with. The acquisition fee is $475 from MAC - all the dealers gave me that amount so I assume it is correct. MF is .00107.
I was getting offers with MF .00112 - .00122.

Do you know how much you financed? Or the residual value? I am trying to get an idea how things are going to look after the lease term is over while paying $407 for 24 months...

What is the MF value also?
