Screw it

I am going to go close the deal as long as when i get there they do what we agreed on. I spoke with the manager of the day about my concerns. He said the M flash and AC was done. He said anything that was suppose to be done is done. He supposedely put the car in service this morning and told them to have it done by noon. ironic huh? Selling the car and they can get a myriad of things done in no time. Once you have bought the car from reading from this forum it has taken days to fix very simple stuff. Wish i could once find a service a dealer that cared as much abut the customer after they bought the car as before. I am going through the TSBs and printing out what i think are the important ones and will verify that all of them are done. I don't want to drive that long distance back to get an engine grommet replaced, etc. With any luck i will report tonight on my new 8. If not i will keep trying...

Some dealerships are good about taking care of stuff others are not.

bmcc49er,
I did exactly that with the TSB's. I also made them fax me a list of everything they'd done before I left to pick up the car so I could compare the two. Make sure they know in advance how thorough you expect them to be and they will be, cause if they aren't you can just walk. Gives you better peace of mind when you zoom it off the lot!

Well I did it. Very pleasant experience surprisingly. I told them all the TSBs I was concerned with. Printed out all the ones from the TECH forum and took them with. When i got there the car was detailed, had the M flash, AC recall done and to my relief my vin number cancelled out damn near every other TSB. Bought the Nordic Green MT, Sport package, spoiler, 6 cd and spare tire $24,379.50 just like we agreed before I left for the dealer and sight unseen they gave me exactly what i asked for the 98 Quest minivan which was right around bluebook, Financed $19,200 for a car that was stickered at 29,650. Feel like I did pretty good. He had a computer printout of everything done, took the time to go over everything about the car, introduced me to the service manager, etc and the best part, I was in the finance office and took care of the paperwork in about 20 minutes. What a drive home! Keep varying the rpms, kept them under 4K and it was about a 100 mile return trip. Gas gauge is funny though, it seems to go down really fast Got home and my kids were pumped and asked if I could drive them to school tomorrow. My son drives his car BTW. Glad to join you all and hope everything stays smooth...

You did your homework, found an incredible deal, and a super dealer that does put the customer first, and you walked away with one hell of a machine, for an insanely low price. You can't get any better then that. Be proud of yourself for waiting, and covering all concerns and bases. It pays to be straight up with a dealer in a considerate fashion, and it can untimately bring out honesty and trust to both sides. CONGRATS!!!

There is one thing you failed to do however. That was get 6k below invoice, and get navigation and Gt package for same price like TheW did. Sorry, I just could not resist. :D

Well Vike, it didn't take long to upset me. I come home post my good luck, go back and check the brake test for the M flash(should have done this there but forget how)no oil sweeo. On top of that when I met the service person I showed the TSb for the grommets and they said thats just an FYI and they have never seen one fall off. guess what, just lifted the hood and the back left is gone. All the had to do was replace the damn things. The M flash really gets me though. I have an invoice saying its done and the ari is done. the air worked great on the way home. I can't understand how they would put a computer printout with the repair done and it doesn't pass the sweep test????

Disregard! I am a selfadmitted idiot! I got it to sweep. Guess i wasn't presing the brake 20 times quick enough. I do have a sticker for the flash inside the door and another sticker inside the hood for the AC. The grommet, well no biggy. Would have been nice if they would have took my advice and replaced them but i will call tomorrow. I am sure if they mail them to me I can do it myself. For the price and the relief to know they did do the work they said I feel great...

If you disect it enough you'll find flaws. Dont' sweat it. You did very well. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake on their part. They did everything else right, so they weren't trying to snake you on lousy grommets. They'll send you one.

bmcc49er,
When I do that I use the Edit button at the bottom right of my message. If I'm quick enough I figure I can delete it b4 anyone sees it! :p

Don't get all in a twist about a grommet. Before the internet and forums like this you probably would never have known. I'm sure they'll mail you a couple.

Note, breaking the engine in gently does not require going around corners and turns gently! Go find a twisty and have some fun!

bmcc49er,

Congrats on the ride! That's just about the package and number I'm looking for. Who's the dealer?

Thanks,

Huhwha

Huh my dealer was in Kansas City, Missouri. Northtowne. I dealt with 5 dealers and gave them all the opportunity to make the sell. took a couple of weeks but I think worth the wait considering the price I got. If you feel you want to come all the way to KC let me know. I will hook you up with my salesman. He called me today and asked me how the ride was home(a little over an hour trip)I said it was great except the gas gauge was broke. It goes down really fast

bmcc49er,

Thanks. I'm gonna try for a deal locally, but if it doesn't work out, it's only 120 bucks for a flight to KC and 600 miles back. Good road trip!

Let me know if you decide to go that route. I will tell my salesman up front that you belong to the forum and know the deal I recieved and is willing to fly from Ohio for the same type of deal. He will tell me before you buy the ticket if he is willing to go that route again. They had a real nice blue with Touring package for 700 more sticker then mine. My sticker was 29,650 and they gave me the car for 24,739. He also had ones even cheaper then mine in Titanium and Silver. He had altogether at least 6 more 04;s and possibly more on another lot they mentioned. I know sticker doesn't mean squat but with my options that is well below invoice. I am on leave for the rest of the month until 4 Oct. so i would even be willing to pick you up at KCI and drive you straight to the dealer with the deal already set. I had to drive a little over an hour and I told them I didn't want to leave my driveway until the deal was set even giving me what I requested on trade-in. Got there and smooth as butter. I can imagine he would appreciate you flying in and be straight as he was with me, My email is bmcc49er@hotmail.com if you can't get anything done locally give me a shout...
