Rebates for September

Well guys, the $1500 rebate plus $500 MAC finance rebate end at the end of August. Mazda has said they want to reduce/eliminate rebates:

Rebate Story

So, that story is so vague I really don't know what to expect for rebates come September. I plan on buying an 06 in September but might move that up if the consensus is that the rebates will go away.

What do you guys think?

If you can wait you are probably better off with an 07, since it will not be a part of the latest recall.

I guess I missed the point. The recall doesn't bother me. A new car will pass the recall and get the flash. No biggie.

More concerned about not getting the $2000 in rebates if I wait till next week to buy a brand new car. Actually, without the rebates I'll probably wait for an 07 as the 06 will have an extra year of depreciation on it.

I think that the reality is that as long as new cars are sitting on the lot not selling, there will be rebates. Otherwise they will have to lower the msrp, but the automakers have conditioned us in the last several years that if we wait long enough, they will be forced to drop the price anyway to sell.

I have mentioned it a few times but have not seen it anywhere else (who can read all the threads?), but for 2007, the warranty goes to 36 months, 36K miles. I just picked up my 06 last week (Feb 06 build) and will take it in for the reflash as soon as the dealer is ready. I will probably have about 1500 on it by then, but not having any kind of problems. I don't think the 07 will be any different than the 06 engine except for already having the flash.

I'd bet the incentives will either stay the same or go up so I don't think waiting a week will be an issue. The only thing would be is if you wanted the sand interior or the new exterior color. I would have gotten a Phantom blue with Sand if it was offered in 06 isntead of the Copper Red shinka. Would have saved me a grand or so but then I love my Shinka too.

this is a *great reason* to get an '06, a full bumper-to-bumper 4yr/50k is a much better coverage than a 3/36k + 5/70k powertrain warranty for the '07s IMO

also, if you get an '06 that's within the VIN range of the recall, your 8 AUTOMATICALLY gets the extended 5yr/60k drivetrain warranty as well

so what you end up with is a NEW '06 with 4/50k bumper to bumper PLUS 5/60 powertrain warranty, that's hell of a deal if you include the incentives.

now just to find the one you want...

All the manufacturers cry--we don't want to use rebates and incentives. But time and time again, they show up to move unsold inventory. They certainly aren't going to scrap the cars.

Maybe sink them on a ship transport though.

Nope, way too many 06 (and perhaps 05's) out there - no reason to discount the 07's yet.

PS: Sad to find that nobody posted what the Sept rebates will be if any. It was $1500 rebate plus $500 if you used MAC last month.

September Rebates

I called Mazda on August 31st and was told that they have extended the current rebate until October 2nd. I was hoping for a larger rebate since news of the recall is out.

relax guys, remember when the 06 came out, they had $4,500 dollars worth of rebates discount plus you guys know that dealers have and additional $3,200 dollars worth of profit build into the msrp of the car plus and addional $1,200 dollars in hold back witch is dealers guarantee money from Mazda so, y buy now?, my friend got a 05 rx-8 10k of msrp it was a gt with navy he got the car for 24k the msrp was $33,900 if I remember correctly. So, I don't dough if they offer the same offer again. I’m a finance manager for a Hyundai store so, I know what I’m talking about.

So when you negotiate these deals with the dealers, do you negotiate the price w/o rebates and then sweeten up the deal afterwards by factoring it in, or is it all rolled up as one negotiated price as I've been getting that vibe?

The dealers will give you a "sale" price that is basically the sticker less the rebates. You need to get that out of yourprice and then subtract it as part of your cash down if possible.

Sounds good but tough to hold out.

1000 for financing instead of the previous 500?
So that would be in addition to the 1500 dollar rebate, totaling 2500 altogether if you finance through Mazda. Right?
Not too bad in my opinion, anyone know if this is official?

*bump* for October rebates.

Pair this up with a dealer invoice and a *fully* loaded can be had for about 24.5....
