Question about leasing with MAC

I am considering leasing a new RX-8. This is the first time that I am buying/leasing a Mazda, so don't have any experience with Ford Credit. I am more familiar with BMW FS, having used them in the past. A few questions:

1. I see an acquisition fee quoted at $475. Is this the MAC rate to the dealer, or a marked up rate? What do most Mazda dealers set acq fee as?
2. What is the buy rate for the disposition fee? What do most Mazda dealers set disposition fee at?
3. With BMW FS, the disposition fee is stated at time of lease inception. Is this the same for MAC?

Thanks everyone for there time, and I look forward to hearing your responses!

The good news is that Mazda Credit extened the lease special for another month, so you have until 8/1 to decide.

$475 is the acquisition fee and should be the rate everywhere. Only high-end (so called) dealers have the 'nads to mark up the acquisition fee. More will try to mark up the money factor, but Mazda dealers probably will not - they will be tickled to move a car off the lot.

I don't think MAC leases have a disposition fee - the lease ends and you turn it in. I will check on this to be sure, but I don't think there is one.

Eveything is always stated on every lease contract - to do otherwise would be against the law. It will look just like a BMWFS contract - all the lease contract are pretty mich the same.

A Mazda dealer marking up the fee and the money factory would be like the time I asked the country dealer what his "doc fee" was. He said "what is that?" and I explained. He said "you mean those city charge you extra to fill out the paperwork?" and laughed. It never dawned on him he could charge for this - and I am betting that this would never dawn on the Mazda dealers to do this. Of course, MAC may not allow it?

It does not appear that MAC has a disposition fee - residual = your buy out price at lease end (plus taxes).

Acq and Disp Fee markup

Thanks Dwynne.

FYI, many BMW dealers routinely markup the Acq Fee and Disp Fee by $100 each or slightly more on BMWFS leases. Also, BMWFS allows them to markup the Money Factor by up to 0.0004. It is up to the buyer to negotiate these.

Glad to see most Mazda dealers don't follow this practice.

Been there, done that. I can't find a SINGLE BMW dealer now that does not mark up the MF and most do the acq fee too!

My local BMW dealer let me get 3rd party financing rather than give me the buy rate on those ("but how will I make any money if I give you the buy rate?").

Honda does not charge to turn in either, and will waive security for a 0.0001 boost in MF. Mazda boosts it 0.00015 to waive security. If you compare the numbers, it should be cheaper to bump the rate and waive than to roll the security and take the lower MF. Of course, it is cheaper per month if you take the lower number and PAY the security up front - but who wants to do that :D ?
