Proud New Owner!!!

Sealed the deal tonight. After months of reading everyone's posts and looking at everyone's pictures I am finally proud to say that I am an RX 8 owner!

05' Sunlight Silver Touring

I will give the details of my surprisingly quick purchase story tomorrow. Right now I just can't explain the feelings that I am going through.

Now, don't you feel like Neo....? LOL!
All this time you thought you were driving. Owning my 8 Shinka is without a doubt the best automotive experience I've ever had. You just have to drive an 8 to believe that the Matrix is real.

Congrats HolyCross05!
Rev Happy and Often....! I hope the weather is nice there for ya.

Unfortunately its really shitty here right now. Cold, drizzly, and wet, and I still have the stock tires on it. How does this car handle in the rain anyways, I am well aware of its capabilities, or lack thereof, in snow with the stock tires but I haven't seen too many threads regarding how it handles in the rain. No flaming please.

Anyways, the dealer I got it from had this special promotion, 8 free tires, 3 free oil changes, and 100,000 mile warranty for 4 years. I thought it was pretty cool, has anyone else seen something like this?

Based on everything I've read, no way I'd take it out in February in Boston in the rain on summer tires. 40 degrees would be my cutoff - anything below that, it gets winter tires or stays in the garage.

Here in TX, we're still waiting for winter...It's been nearly 70 everyday this year. I drove with stock tires for my first year. I love the this damn weather here...I've only driven in the rain once....and it was a good thing that happened. There was some tube from the sunroof that wasn't installed at the factory. It left a nice puddle at my feet during heavy downfall. That was the one time it got wet in the past 12 months.

I hope the weather gets better there soon man.

I hope to be in your shoes soon! I am still looking arougd the dealers for my 8. Going in this weekend to check out the deals.

Can I ask what you paid for your 05 HolyCross and what options you got? I know you said touring but did it have leather/nav and what was the mileage? I'm thinking 05's should be pretty low in mileage.

Anyway, Congrats and keep her shiny!

Congrats on the new Car! (just beware of the curse...)

Sounds like a great offer your dealership threw in for you....8 new tires. NICE!
Just remember to break your car in propersly. www.racingbeat.com (they've got some good break in suggestions)

Can't wait to see pictures.

'05 Sunlight Silver with 13 miles, no Nav or Leather. Build date is 10/05 so it was fairly new. I went in on Jan 30 just to check out what they had because the mazda dealer is only a couple of miles from my work. The dealer took me for a test drive (he drove because I didn't know how to drive stick), and he beat the hell out of the demo car, got my heart real pumping. I've been lurking around here for the past couple of months so I am very familiar with the car and the deals that people are getting for them so I just threw him a really low figure 23k, and they pretty much told me it was impossible since the sticker price was 30.

The next day, which was yesterday, the last day of the month I came back during the day for some manual driving lessions and gave them another offer, 23.5 which they quickly declined again. After work I went back and offered them 24.5 and the
manager said he wouldn't take anything under 24.9, so I just laughed at him and left.

if the cars MSRP was really 30k, then yes you did well. But price isn't the only factor.

What kind of interest rate did you get? If you traded in your car, how much did you get for it?

what options / packages are on the rx8?

If you give us those specifics, we can give you a better answer.

Here is a similar deal that I am going after from the dealer. I am going to try and get this down as low as possible, around the 23-24K area and will be putting down a good deposit and financing the rest.

What type of interest rate is good right now? Any idea of what I should target? Credit is excellent.

2005 RX-8 6-Speed $27,420 238-hp 1.3L Rotary Engine Standard 6-Spd ManualStandard

SPORT PACKAGE M/T $1,300
APPEARANCE PACKAGE $970
ROTARY ACCENT PACKAGE $139

Total: $29,829.00

Well, 5.24% is a pretty decent rate, anything lower is excellent. On a new car, you should be able to finagle a lower interest rate. Typically you won't get the extremly good interest rates (like 1%) unless the dealership is running a special.

I'd try for something like 3 or 4% if you have excellent credit.

It doesn't hurt to look at your bank or possibly becoming a member of a credit union. Credit Unions typically have excellent rates, my credit union also rate matches whatever the dealer offers. My CU was a few points lower than what the dealership was willing to offer me.

I had planned on getting a lower rate from a bank anyways so I asked him how many months we need to pay for the loan first before it can be paid in full and he said 3.
I'm pretty sure thats a load of BS. You should be able to refinance at any time. Check your fine print though.

Yea I was just reading it, it said you will not be charged for paying it off early.

I haven't had too much experience with refinancing but im hoping that I get a good deal from a bank. Isn't the lowest rate mazda gives anyone 8%? My rate right now is ridiculous but I could not resist the 2500 rebate. You guys think this rebate will go up within the next couple of months?

As far as I know Mazda doesn't give you a rate, the banks do. I was offered 5.39% by the dealership through chase bank. I got a lower interest rate through my credit union, but I'm just using that as an example.

Usually dealerships get some sort of kickback if they refer people to a financial institution.

if you have excel heres a great little spreadsheet that will let you know exactly how much you're getting screwed. Just punch in your finance numbers and it figures everything out for you.

Car Buying Tips Scroll down until you see "4 Scenario Loan" then download the xls file and run it.

I am qualified for 4.74% through my credit union. I turned 25 on Sunday. Credit score ranges between 730-780 (or a little higher now since it goes up every month) depending on which agency I check with. So far that is the absolute lowest interest rate I can find anywhere in my area.

Thanks!!! New up to 84 months, which is also nice since I spent my downpayment money towards my vacation and paid down some bills. Then I found out I had to have a car for my second job. I wish I had known that one month earlier!!!!

At least according to the internet, interest rates on cars in Oregon always tend to run at least 1% higher than in other states, allegedly because there is no sales tax here. Who knows?

Well, I am actually paying on a vaction for next year, August 25-September 7. I actually leave on the 24th and come back on the 8th. I have a 14 night stay at a five-star all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean right on the beach. I've always wanted to go to the Caribbean and this is my first vacation as an adult, so I decided to go all out. I'm going with some friends from Italy.

The bad part is that it is right smack in the middle of hurricane season. Although, if hurricane force winds do occur at anytime during my stay I automatically get a free vacation of the same length and accommodations to be taken at another time!!!!!

P.S. I see you like the Dallas Stars. I used to know Brendan Morrow.
