Pricing?

Looking at adding another rx8. Found a 2009 rx-8 r3. Brand new tires. Paint is in decent shape. R3 rims (obviously). Stock radio. 6 speed. 31.000 miles.

Sticker was at 23,999. How's the price? I know it's high. It's a stealer hip. They said they would give an additional 1 hear on top of what it is still covered. What should I haggle down to. What would be a good cost on this? Anything special that I should look at vs mine? (06 sport).

Sounds high, make them a decent low-ball offer, then look elsewhere.

If it's still there next week, they may be a lot more amenable to your offers.....

i know its high... its a stealership lol. But i have found them as low as 19k with lower miles on autrader. Finding it hard to find other r3's in the area and i havnt seen any ones on the club. im thinking if i go in at 19 and see what they do. they offered me a 3.9 APR but said might be able to do better. Im holding off until monday before i even talk to the salesmen again anyway. well see what they say. cross your fingers

forget about book values. For these cars it is about how much the few enthusiasts out there are willing to pay. We call the shots with pricing

The argument of negotiation for an RX-8 in not book value, but the car's increasing lack of popularity. As another forum member explained to me a while ago, when buying an RX-8 you need to keep in mind that you are doing the dealer a favor - not the other way around, LOL.

With that mileage, I would also start at $18K and stop at $20K compression test included. And that would be even too much as there are members who have reported buying R3s with 12-15K miles for around $20K.

Yeah I've seen that lol. I know we do them a favor. I found that out when I bought my 06 lmao. Yeah i mentioned compression test and "assured me there was no issues in the r3" * cough cough bullshit*. It's still a rotary lol. Trust me I'm not buying it without one. I saw the service record But only saw oil changes etc. No plugs, coils, wires, tranny. Rear dif changes. So that's on my priority list for them if I do end up with it. I love the car but I think 20k might be the ceiling for me too. I'm in no rush. I know I can find an r3 if I just take my time. I have an 06 so it's not like I'm in desperate need for an 8. Thanks for everyone's input. Let's see what he says Monday.

when buying an R3 froma dealer / or independent car lot - that is NOT a Mazda place - what tests would you recommend having done? what fluids, parts, etc that woudl need to already by checked or changed on a car with onlyh 15-20k miles???

I'm a bit pre emotive when it comes to repairs / upkeep with an rx-8. At 30k most people do plugs / wires / coils. Tranny fluid and rear differential should be changed. Make sure the oil was changed consistently. After u test drive the car make sure it has no hesitation / trouble with a hot start. R3's are a hard car for lots to sell. Get a compression test at their cost. Most of the time they will be so desperate to get it off their lot that they will. R3's went having issues with engines yet but you can never be too safe when your dumping close to 20 grand
