Price Increase! Can anyone verify??

My salesman called me today and told me my ordered car wouldn't be in until mid July and that there was a price increase coming soon. I said "a price increase before the '05's are out?!?" He said "yes." Can anyone verify this? I think they may be trying to get me to buy one off the lot instead of sticking with my ordered one.

I think you're on the right track with that assumption :D

I was just at a dealer in SoCal on Saturday and told him I'm waiting for the '05s. He made no mention of a price increase in the new model year. Though I didn't ask that specifically, you would think that if he knew about it he'd try to dissaude me from waiting by mentioning it.

How long ago did you order your car? Did you reach a price agreement at the time you placed the order? I also want to know if this is true since I am waiting for the 2005s.

Itzdavidx 04-20-2004 02:11 AM

i doubt there will be a price change

Mistryl 04-20-2004 02:23 AM

actually, i think there will be. Not so much to do with costs or anything, but because the exchange rates between the dollar and yen is getting worse and worse for us, that invoice prices in terms of the dollar have to go up. I believe most german car companies are already doing this.

I ordered it this past Saturday. They quoted me $100 over invoice. They were going to modify an order already in the system with a "TBD" build date. I didn't ask how much the price increase was. Maybe I'll call them back today and ask how much.

I'm beginning to think I should wait for the '05's as well. I'm guessing the information on the '05's will be available in late June?

Why order? The Mazda dealer I take mine in for servicing just advertised 33 8's in stock and $2,500 off of invoice. They are in MN but for that kind of savings you could buy a cheap one way ticket and have fun driving home.

Why order?
An ordered vehicle gets you exactly what you want with all the options installed by the factory (or in port) instead of by the dealer who can sometimes do a poor job. And, you know it hasn't been abused on test drives. BUT, for $2500 off, I would be willing to take one with less than 50 miles on it.

Even with 33 8's in stock, they may not have what I want. In the entire DFW metro (6+ dealers) there are only 3 close to what I want - NONE exactly what I want.

What's the zip code for your dealer in MN?

I bought mine from the showroom with 6 miles on it. Sport version with sun roof, a 6 disc CD player and Lojack. Was $30K total out the door.

Love it!

Try the dealer in Denton , they had a bunch in stock, around 40 if I remember right when I searched them about 3 weeks ago . Someone from Dallas bought one from them and said they where great to work with and got a great deal on it ...

How reliable is your source? I assume you mean 8/1/04? :D

The advertisements for the 8 over here now show an extra £100 for the base model so it sounds like it could be a global increase.
