Finally picked up my 8 this weekend. New 2005 6MT Base model in Winning Blue. Great car and great buying experience from Independence Mazda in Kansas City. E-mail them and ask for just about any car you want and they will get it for you. I was very specific that I wanted this model and this color and they got it for me without any objections. I dealt with them completely on the internet. They really bent over backwards to sell me a car, and I think I got a pretty damn good deal too. Basically put down $1000 for the first payment+ Security deposit and am paying $411 a month for a 15000 mile, 24-month lease. You could probably get that a little bit lower, but I wasn't buying a car from their stock so I just agreed to their offer, which was Invoice and the best financing terms Mazda offers. I discovered that Mazda tells the dealers what financing term they will give and it's up to the individual dealers to tack on whatever surcharges or tell the customer whatever lies they can to convince them to pay a higher rate. If a dealer thinks they might lose you and that you're gonna go talk to other dealers, they will probably just give you the best deal. In the case of the current lease the best deal has a Money Factor of .00107. The acquisition fee is $475 and the deposit is $450. They had me on wear care, but that's just money you'll never see again so I changed that to a deposit instead. I did end up paying a $250 "dealer profit fee", which is obviously high compared to most dealers but it included the security etching service and gap insurance.
