New or Used for RX-8 (reliability)???
I'd like some opinions from RX8 members on buying an 8:
Here's a couple of options for buying--which one do you like, and why:
1) Buy a bright shiny new RX8 :D . Get the original factory warranty, no previous ham-fisted drivers smoking a clutch early, you get to break it in correctly (vs risking improper break-in), but... you pay for it.
2) Buy a 1 or 2 year old RX8 and save a bundle :p . You hope it's been broken in correctly, driven nicely, or mitigate by buying an extended warranty.
IMO, I usually go for used, run out the original warranty, roll the dice, and bank the savings for any needed future repairs. But with the 8 (obviously it's a sports car) from what I read in the Technical section, the rotary needs to be properly broken in or you run the risk of having premature engine failure (rumor...I don't know).
What say y'all
Thanks,
G-man

If you want your 8 NOW, your only option is used. Mazda dealers can't deliver any new 8s off their lots until recall inspections and repairs are completed.
I think you'd do fine buying used as long as you buy from an original-owner private party who has all maintenance records and isn't a twenty-something male.
