New Member, Considering an RX-8
New Member, Considering an RX-8
Hello from a newbie. I have always liked the mazda RX ever since I drove my first over 20 years ago in college. I have found some dealers are dying to get rid of inventory and it looks like I can get a new 2010 sport for around $18K and a new R3 for around $23K. These are incridible discounts, which is making me think real hard about getting a new toy. I live in Montana so I realize I won't be using it a lot in the winter, but I have other vehicles for that. I a leaning towards the sport because it is hard to justify an extra $5K on a toy. What would you suggest? Thanks.
I suggest you stay away from either RX-8 and here is why -
first, you will want to drive it - like all the time. very addictive
second - you will waste time on this website
third - you will smile more often
fourth - chicks dig this car. magnet. real good problem
fifth - you will begin to spend money on mods
stay away. get a sebring or a mini van

I found a pretty cherry 2007 GT and bought it on Thursday morning. 1500 miles later I am back home with the new toy. It is a great highway car, and the acceleration was better than I expected. The automatic I drove first was such a dog I was worried a N/A rotary may not have enough juice. Luckily I was wrong, it is very fun to drive. Now to resist the urge to mod it!
I too, newb, and hadn't sit in one till yesterday. It was a very clean '09, blue R3. 22k miles, asking 22K. Now, if it were the newest red one (2011) on the showroom floor, I'd probably have it on the road as we speak. Velc Red really does it for me. I was very impressed with the handling. The salesman let me take it to a large parking lot and give it some quick paced hard turns before finding some other curves to rip. The only negatives I have are the dismal mpg for a small car when others out there with 400+ HP are getting close to the same. My Z71 Silverado gets 16 mpg! I wish the R3 had a sunroof as well, even if it were a removable one. I have a couple of toys that have been great investments that would just about pay for an R3, but they will always hold their value if not continue to go up, where the car will eventually loose most of it's value. A hard choice in the middle of a divorce!
