Need help for interest in buying an RX8...

I have been looking at RX8's for about a year now and have tried to save enough money working two jobs over the summer. Here are the facts. I am 17 and am looking to buy on under 10 grand. I'm most def. looking for a manual transmission and have found one. This specific RX8 is the 2004 GT series with 68k on it and is selling for 8300. You may think it might not be for me because I am young and may not know how to take care of a car, especially this one since it needs it more than most, however, I have done my research and know what to expect. Now for a student who will probably only be driving no more than 25 miles a day and will be going to college next year, is this car right for me? I needed to come to the experts on this. If not, can anyone suggest what I should do in this situation. Thanks a lot in advance!

If the car is selling for $8300 and with 68k on it there is more than likely some problems with it, sounds like the price for a salvage title car. I got my 04 GT w/ all options except nav for $16,500 and 27k miles. Think of it this way, do you want to work only to support your car? The gas costs will also be a burden if you can't afford to get ~240 miles to tank (about 50-70 bucks a tank depending on price of gas) I can run through an entire tank in a week or less. Another point to think about is the insurance costs which could be quite a bit, and the maint would also be a hassle if you can't do at least some work on it yourself. I'm 18 and I have one but I'm mechanically inclined and I do a lot of work myself saving me money.

The points you really need to think about are, can you afford the car, and will you be responsible enough not to try to be a 1337 Dr1ft0r with it and not complaining about having to maintain it like other cars. You can't procrastinate on things like oil changes with this car.

GL!

Seems like a really low price - I would have it fully checked out by Mazda or at the very least have a report done on its vin # to figure out its past history.

Yes I know it seems low. A little too low to be honest, it had at least 23 records off of its vin number, but I have still been looking around. But I am prepared to take care of this car in a ridiculous fashion because i have researched it so many times and know what to expect from it and all the other "How to's..." I also understand that it must be driven hard but not to the point where most would say WTF? but instead to the rx8 standard of driving hard. The zoom zoom hard. I was just posting for some extra information and help as well.
