my offer for new car.

here's what i want:
new 05 6MT
sport package
spoiler
price built online: 29,090.

dealership didn't have one on their lot. they DID, however, have the same thing but without the sport package. offered me 23,500.

i'm thinking that i should offer 23,500 for them to go get what i want from another dealership, walk out price, including TTL and every other stupid fee that i don't even want him to have an opportunity to screw me over with.

unreasonable? i live in OK and i'll figure out the TTL here and post for a better informed decision. thanks.

Go on to mazdas website and locate the car you want. Then take the invoice price (you can get it at edumnds.com) and then subtract the rebates dealer cash etc. That would be a pretty good deal and you d get the car you want.

it's not that easy. you don't just walk into a dealership and say i want invoice less this, this and that. they are going to put up a fight.

not really, the ppl they bust a gut for are the ones who make their day by overpaying for a car.

They get frustrated by people who actually know what they are talking about and dont get taken for a ride.

according to bluebook, invoice is about 26.8K, MSRP is 29K. TTL is $1K.

he's going to highball me from the beginning, so why not lowball him from the beginning?

My last 4 cars I have bought by doing this via emails to lots of dealers, if you just wander onto a lot your on their turf. I have even walked off a lot and sent a fax in with an offer and 2 days later they called and took it.

You might want to also check the blue book price on what you are trying to buy, too. They may be brand new but they are still consider a year old and their value has dropped because of it. That's why all the discounts on the cars right now. They are trying to get rid of them but they can't very well charge you much over their value.
