Cool might buy an 08. need help as to cost of possible repairs

I am possibly going to buy an 08 6 speed with 59k miles , coolant light is on even though its full, and there was a misfire fault stored in the ecu but runs ok at this time, it is a dealer trade in and i have no maintenance records and unable to compression test before buying. 6k bucks. should I dive in? it runs smooth, has leather seats, heated seats, sunroof , but needs some tlc. what would my cost be if I had to rebuild the motor if dealer wont honor warranty with no records. any advice would be great. thanks.

I wouldn't buy the car if they won't do a compression test on the engine...simple as that! Go find another dealership that will sell you a car that still has warranty on it, and will do a compression test on the engine. And another thing, the dealership should fix the issues before selling you a car...

Coolant light is a known issue, either live with it or replace the coolant overflow tank.

A rebuild can be anywhere between a few thousand to much more depending on the quality you want.

First off, why in the world would an '08 RX-8 be only $6k?
Second, why do they not want to let you take the engine for a compression test, or is it that they want you to pay out of pocket for the compression test, and you don't want to pay for it?
Third, coolant light is a common problem. You need to replace the coolant tank.

Honestly, it sounds shady.
Either the car has previous damage that you can't see, or the engine is a goner.
There's no way an '08 with only 59k miles should be that cheap.

BC.

If the dealer won't let you do a compression test, then they have something to hide. It's that simple.

Walk.
