looking to buy 05 questions??

I am looking to buy an rx8...test drove two used 05's today. Ill include a link so you can see which ones I am talking about. Here. I really loved driving them the white one is extra clean overall. But i like the side skirts on the silver one. Are those a factory part. They both are manuals (i drove an automatic earlier and was not impressed!) Both have around 60k on them for the 12k-13k range. Is this a good deal. Is this too many miles. The only probelms that i noticed was on the start up of both vehicles. It seems like it take longer than normal to crank. The dealer told me that is normal with a rotary engine? Is that true. The rear tailight look like it had condensation in it. Is this normal on these cars? Anything else I should look at that anyone could think. I really enjoyed driving both of these cars and look forward to getting one. thx.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've had my 05 for 5 years now and still puts a smile on my face every time I hop in!

Excessive cranking is not normal for a healthy rotary engine. Sounds like the engines may have compression issues. Also could be a starter issue. As Mazurfer stated time to do some reading.

My 05 starts instantly at 63000 miles. I also think it has the original plugs, coils and wires.

I have seen the 05 as low as $8500 and as high as $18000 but most seem to be in the $12 to $13000 range

Hi there...I am going to buy an RX8 in South Africa but unfortunately I can't afford a new one. I drive a modified Opel Corsa Classic 1.7DTi but want the Mazda RX8. The car looks awesome and every time some bastiardo drives pass me with that car my wife goes mad with oooohhhh and aaaahhhh. Now I got to have it. I am looking at buying a 2nd hand RX8 2004 model as it seems to be the most affordable but I heard the engine floods and there are always other issues with the car with regards to maintenance. My next option is the 2006 or 2007 models but need some help in deciding.....I really must have this car so that my wife can stop smiling when that bastiardo comes pass me again :-)
