i would agree with chris but even 18K is high. of course since it's a dealership and certified you'll pay a premium (right or wrong).

thats low mileage, and has every option on it. So the car had somewhere around a 33k MSRP.

18k might be what you can get from a private seller, so 20-23k sounds about right from a dealer.

so it's covered for 77000 mi?

how much would a standard extended warranty be and how many miles would it cover? that sounds like the main price difference, plus the cost of "peace of mind."

If you plan to modify the car in a way that would void the warranty, you'll be waiting for a long time.

HTH

That doesn't seem to be an appropriate thing to say on a forum where you came to ask questions, now does it?

So, for your information, no one will answer your question because street racing is illegal, and it has been discussed here millions of times.

edit: If you've read a lot of stuff here then you would know the answer.

The fact that you'd be going for a 72 month finance plan makes me think that this is too expensive of a car for you.

The fact that you want them to let you race a 350Z before buying it makes me think you're an idiot.

Haha, so you're saying that you would ask a dealer to take the two cars to a track? Yeah, I'm sure that's the case.

Go for the car if you want it.

... why would you go for the 72 month finance plan? Do you really want to pay even more in interest? Second, the 350z would be faster in a straight drag race because the low amount of torque in the Rx-8. Third, check carfax for flood. Otherwise you are going to have to check rusting in appropriate places like the under body and determine for yourself if it as been water flooded.

Hmm, good question. I guess I was trying to shame you into changing your mind. Or at the very least provoke some sort of argument that would be fun for the whole family.

Seriously though, don't buy more car then you can afford.

the 100,000mile warranty is an extra $5,000. So for that extra piece of mind it will cost you. You may want to consider that. If you get a 72Month finance pay off as much as you can in the first 6months or so than try to refinance and pay off the rest in a shorter period. Usually within 54 months of a 72 month finance period you will end up paying about 2% extra which is not so bad. Play your cards right and you will not pay more out of pocket on the car. That is 4.5 years into your 6 year loan so you should be able to buy out of your loan by then and maybe be bored of your car all while getting your money's worth and moving on to your next car that you will only spend a fraction on. The blessing of financing.

I don't think you're doing your math right if you think last sentence is true. Maybe you're being sarcastic -- I can't really tell.

Never take a 72 month loan if you can afford the payments of a 60 month loan. The reason that the interest rate is almost always higher for the longer term contract so even if you pay it off in the same amount of time you'll end up paying more.

How having said that, there's nothing terribly wrong with a 72 month contract (hey, that's what I had because I got a 1.9% interest rate -- I get way more than that on my savings account). But if that's the only way you can afford the payments it's generally a sign that it's too expensive of a car for you.
