Insurance..What you pay...

I live on long island. I have not driven in two years, but I am a 30 year old male. I have 2 points from tickets I got in 1997 but went to court in Nov 2003.

I am paying $956 for 6 monthes it seems high. just wondering what other people are paying. I used to have a boxer s and it was only 750 or less. Insurance seems very high for this car. Has anybody gotten there car stolen or broken into? Or is it more accidents.

thanks

It is really a great car for the money.

This has been done before but you should also list what type of insurance and coverages you a getting at that price, it makes it more relative.

I have $100,000/300,000, something like $50k property, full glass, and uninsured for the same amount. I can't recall my deductibles but I pay around $625 every 6 months.

I'm 21 and never had any violations and pay $123 a month for full coverage w/ a $2K deductable. This is the only insurance I have in my name.

22, Male, 2300 a year in NJ. No points, no tickets, one accident (not my fault, didn't cost insurance company anything so they don't care). Full coverage, 1K deductible on collision, 500 on comprehensive, I think my coverage is a little less than brothervoodoo's.

This car is actually pretty good on insurance, compared to other sports cars. Your problem is that you are male, live in Long Island, and have 2 points.

I pay 870 a year for 300,000/500,000 with everything imaginable added to the policy (my wife works in commercial insurance and she makes sure we are covered) and I have a 500 deductable through Amica Mutual. They are a company who you have to qualify for to be insured with. That way we are not paying for bad drivers the company insures.

Oh I have 2 accidents that were not my fault, and no tickets.

Women typically get lower rates too...

I won't quote my insurance (unless someone really wants to know), cause it's classified as a "pleasure vehicle" on my policy (3 cars total on the policy)...

€1.600 a year for 300/500 at 50% (that means 9 years of car insurance without accidents) but then I guess our insurance systems may be different.

In Germany we have a percentage system based on accident-free time of driving, car, region and age. Since the RX-8 isn't fully classified yet (too new), it's probably expensive.

I pay $165/month for my wife's 03 Caravan, my 8, and $78K renter's insurance. Full coverage 100K/300K, towing, rental, and full replacement coverages on both.

USAA...paid for itself today! My car has been in the shop for a week and 1/2 and still not really being heavily worked because the other guy's insurance co (Palisades in NJ) has been playing mail tag and having to wait two days each time their independant adjuster needs to come back for supplemental damage.

Called USAA today and told them what is going on and they asked me to allow them to file the not-at-fault claim on my policy and they fully waived my $500 deductible and will not even have to send an adjuster out since the shop I chose is a USAA preferred shop. Whatever they say needs to be done gets done no questions asked and then they go after Palisades for re-imbursement! Awesome service and they guarantee my rates will not increase since I was not at fault and his policy will pay out enough to cover all expenses.

Funny this thread just came up. I just paid my insurance premium for the next 6 months = $617.50. $300,000/$300,000, Property Damage $300,000, Medical payments $5,000, $100 comprehensive, $250 collision, $300,000/$300,000 uninsured motor vehicle.

Funny thing is in the State of NH, insurance is not manditory!

When I first got my RX8 in August 2003, most of the insurrance don't even have the car in their computer.I got quoted $5000+ for insurrance but later I got hooked up by a Farmers agent to $350per month.I was 21 when I got the car. With a perfect record ever since I got the RX8 & with a family plan from Farmers, it's gotten to $160 per month now.

Holy Cow, that sounds like way too much money no matter what kind of coverage you have... try and increase your deductible and review what coverages you really need. Get a few competitive quotes and I would almost guarantee you can get that number down...

In the UK mine is £2,400per year which is probably close to $5,000 these days. That was the cheapest quote by about £2,000.

The price you pay for having a cool car.

No tickets, no accidents ever. Single driver age 25-29. Last Sep I paid $581 for 6 months State Farm coverage:

100,000/300,000
Property 50,000
100 Deductible Comprehensive
500 Deductible Collision
Car Rental 80% a day $500 max
Uninsured 100,000/300,000

Rates went up 6 months to $780. They said they'd let me know why the big increase but it says on my premium, "The claim experience on your make and model of vehicle has resulted in an increase to your vehicle rating group for comprhensive and/or collision coverages." I have a week to find something cheaper.
